Brandbright Cricket rebuild

Post by tom_tom_go » Wed Mar 08, 2017 12:29 pm

Been working on this for a while now but just not had time to post my results.

Best picture I could find of the original model, the flashing LED on the roof had to go as it looked too toy like to me:

RC testing:

The loco was supplied with it's original RCS 23MHz and horn although the noise it made sounded like a buzzer. The on board battery was also worn out (the seller did not tell me this, cheers).

The new setup is Deltang/Mtroniks. The loco sounds a bit quiet as I need to drill out the grill in the bonnet.

Loads more to do to this loco so will update as I go.

I like the engine sounds, not so sure about the horn though. My wife, who didn't know what I was looking at, said, "Whats that? It sounds like a Cuckoo?"

The horn is not great, however, I don't tend to use it much and it is a boat sound module after all (Not going to get a Class 37 two tone from that).

I could get another sound module though that just did a horn and rig that up to the same speaker, interesting idea.
