More progress on the line - it has now reached Birds Nest Halt and the works train was busy this weekend delivering materials for the build of the platform and eventually the shelter - here we see No.3 Kenny on Brewery Curve on its way to the site



Here we have arrived and the groundworks can be seen on the left of the loco - pre painting (which also was used to cover up the latest bird 'poo') - as its under the Bird feeding area, this will be a perennial problem although we only feed during the winter so I expect the white stuff to reduce to a minimum during the summer months!

Great news - we've reached the end of the line - yesterday we got the groundwork finished:-






And after the PW team worked through the night moving rails, sleepers and fixings to the new site, the track laying gang got busy today








So we could run the works train with Jessie down the line to test out the new trackwork.

Just read the blog, might need some nice washable regauged plastic lgb to deliver burgers and sausages. Nice line and I like the common livery to the locos.[/b]

Awesome layout you've got going.

Instead of the open cars hauling the freshly grilled food maybe build some oven cars to keep things warm during transport.

You could use tea lights to keep the plates warm on a hot plate like they do in some restaurants...

I usually recommend plasticard for construction of rolling stock, but on this occasion I have my doubts.

Agree..... may need to start with a donor Hornby Tinplate wagon - with suitable insulation - also the height could be a challenge thinking how high a tea light flame reaches from the base of a candle - perhaps just need a mini tea light or some form of element - or perhaps we may have found a use for Mamod solid fuel!

The grapes are colouring up nicely - the staff at CHLR ran a test run this weekend - where a bunch is taken from the vines to Junction where the man from the Winery comes and tests sugar levels.

Sadly by the time the grapes sweeten enough, the mice and birds have usually got the majority - you never know though!

At least you get grapes! I've got a bumper crop this year, 3 whole 'bunches' with at least half a dozen 'grapes on each, and some have even grown as big as peas.

I have 4 fruit trees and for the past 3 years i have had nothing of all of them, they did flower so you would expect them to fruit, i do have some very small apples on a tree, but the other’s pear/cherry and plum nothing.

Just got back from North Wales- the birds and mice have got the grapes again this year! LOL!
