PLR - Excerpts from a running session

Post by ge_rik » Sat Aug 01, 2015 5:11 pm

Returned from my holidays the day before yesterday. So, what was my top priority on my return??

Running some trains of course...... ;) ;)

Decided to get the video camera out for the past few train movements.

It's all just brilliant Rik!

Have you thought about fitting sound cards or even smoke generators to your steam locos?  The new generation MyLocoSound cards are a big improvement in terms of sync ability with running gear and audio:

Hi Tom (?)
Thanks. Some of the shots are a bit cock-eyed - should have planned them more, but it was just a case of plonking the camera down while I was running trains.

I've fitted three MyLocosound cards, but not in the two locos I ran yesterday. I agree, the new Universal card is excellent. I like the way you can adjust it on the fly with the IR remote control

Super little video Rik, thanks for sharing. These are the things that fuel my enthusiasm to press on with turning the garden upside down!

Most impressive Rik, I really love your railway. Everything looks so convincing and well thought out. The RC works so well I need to do that myself.

Thanks chaps, that's very encouraging. All I can see are the imperfections.

Thanks Zach
I'm thinking my next video might be a tour of the line in its setting. I know when I see pictures of other people's railways I like to see how all the bits fit together. Maybe it's time I did something along those lines. Quite often the reaction I get when someone visits is - "Your garden is a lot smaller than I expected"

This follows the same method that I use when I'm photographing a line for a web site - I like to get a set of shots which show how the line "goes together" - this provides a context for the more detailed shots.

You are far too critical of your work Rik.

The station scene from your video starting around 4:18 could easily be real life :)

Watching this makes me want to sell all my live steam and go DCC again with programed running so I can just sit back and watch ;)
