DVLR visits the PLR

Post by ge_rik » Tue Jul 07, 2015 1:58 pm

A video marking the visitation to the Peckforton Light Railway of locos and stock from the Deben Valley Railway.

The first time in its history that a live steam loco has graced the metals of the PLR - the video marks this occasion.

Many thanks to Zach for navigating to this remote corner of Cheshire and for braving the almost continuous rain to make it happen

Rik

PS and thanks for the Bara Brith

Lovely work gentlemen, really lovely. The shots alongside the river are really superb again. Nice to see steam on the PLR too. It continues to inspire me!

Thanks for sharing Rik and Zach.[/quote]

Very enjoyable! Zach - where did you get the headcode discs from?

Thanks again Rik for a really enjoyable (if slightly damp) day! The line's gradients make it an interesting drive and the end to end operation is great. River Tang's small gas tank was just large enough to get from one end to the other and the fire had to be turned up for tackling the bank! A proper "driver's line". I was concentrating so hard driving I didn't get any video footage, I've got a few pics which I'll pop up here in a bit.

Brian - the disks are copper and you can buy 100 of them for a pound if you don't mind a bit of filing...

Brass shim and wire soldered onto the back and painted they are exactly the correct scale diameter for 15" GER head code disks.

Such a lovely line is for sharing...... I would like to welcome visitors to my line too but I seem so remote from members. PM if you are in the area.

A line to be proud of Rik, thanks for sharing.

The river reminds me of the early Thomas the tank engine series...

Thanks for the responses. It was very much a joint enterprise and to be honest we didn't really notice the rain - far too busy running trains. Great to have visitors - anyone welcome if they're in or around central Cheshire

Cracking video guys.

Zach, nice to see that you are using the classic 'paper clip' coupling :)

Nice!
I want to visit, but you live so far away.
... or I do.

What kind of camera do you use?
