A really great video of a marvellous railway. I've never seen it in operation on video before. Thanks for sharing.

What's so frustrating is that, at that time, my mum and dad lived about five miles away from Peter - and I never knew! If I had known and visited, who knows what the PLR would have looked like today?

A legendary line, such a shame I never got to see it, I know from Kes how close it was to me, if only I had known back then. But the footage here is terrific, Tony. I'm impressed with how you managed to get a 90s camcorder steadily mounted on a wagon!

Hi Simon,

Good to hear from you. Gaynor and I at the last minute were asked to escort 14 American tourists on a coach tour of some of the Garden Railways and narrow gauge railways of Wales, we could have done with a couple of Border Collies but that is another story. For many years I had used cine and then video cameras and in this period I had what was compact for its day a JVC I think camera which used the later smaller cassettes. The camera was held to a purpose built wagon by its tripod fixing thread and was weighted to balance the camera's uneven weight distribution, the wagon was used on many garden railways and layouts for many years. I am slowly working though other elements of the video to bore people with.

Take care Tony.

Thought I heard some transatlantic accents in there. Sounds like an enjoyable tour though, I'd have been happy to volunteer as an assistant shepherd ;)

Look forward to seeing it!

I enjoyed that, thank you!

The CDR was a regular feature of the pages of SMT when I started garden railway-ing, so it's great to see it in action.

The CDR was a wonderful line, but I'm glad it didn't have too great an influence on you Rik - the industrial landscapes of Compton Down are fascinating, but I prefer the delightful rural ambience of the PLR!

Great video Tony.

My thoughts were the same Rik I think with Peter's encouragement the copper mine might have taken over.
