The Mamod diesel sounded like it was struggling or is it just the camera mic picking up the motor noise?

Probably the "Camera Mic" I was using my phone.

Interesting about the Mamod noise, I was at my local garden railway group last weekend where two members had purchased examples at the Peterborough show last month. One was almost totally silent and the other was noisy, on the verge of being annoying. I've noticed that the MFA motors and gearboxes that are used in these Mamods do seem to vary in their manufacture/quality, one of my electric locos fitted with a 30:1 reduction gearbox is quite noisy going forward but much quieter when running in reverse. I must try some lubrication experiments when I have a moment - whenever that might be!
