Mamod Boulton with RC and sound

Post by CVLR » Mon Mar 12, 2018 9:07 pm

My Mamod Boulton has now acquired radio control and sound using Deltang radio gear and a Fosworks sound card. Alterations to the appearance and weathering are now underway.

Sounds good to me.... always look better after a bit of weathering and the addition of a driver.
Pup looks great too!

Sounds like they have changed the horn sound on the Mtroniks boat sound module?

Mine sounds different?

I was about to say the same thing. I wondered if it was a bigger speaker, but listening again, I think they've reprogrammed the horn sound. Much improved.

Steve at Fosworks supplies three different versions; single horn with single blast, twin horn with single blast and this one which is twin horn with three blasts.

It's loud too. This is playing through a 50mm speaker directly behind the radiator grille and is only half volume!

Yours does sound quieter Tom, but the engine sounds beefier to me. :thumbright:

I don't have it loud as my garden is not very big but I can turn it up if needed but then it's louder than the live steamers which isn't right to me.

The speaker I use is from Peter Spoerer and is smaller and superior in quality to the speaker that is shipped with the sound card:
