The exhaust note is the best feature!

That loco is so cool and the sound is spot on for a diesel :D

How does it compare pulling power wise to the live diesel?

Thanks Dave  :)   If ever I'm able to get into live steam again that is pretty much the approach I would take with an oscillating cylinder in the cab and geared drive to the wheels.

Edit: Oops  after a closer look I see that the steam engine in the cab of your clever wee loco isn't an oscillator at all. That will teach me to pay closer attention.

I snuck a look at your other video as well...... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lxeLsfhgzyM

The electric starter is intriguing. I suppose you need that because there's not a handy flywheel to flick with a finger to get things moving.

It's another strong hauler. It's got 24 power strokes per turn of the wheels, and is heavy.

Yes, the way the loco worked out the flywheel became inaccessible.

The cylinder has a big bore but a short stroke, and with cut-off makes it a reluctant starter. I start it with an Allen key too.

Initially the loco was started from the rear, but it was tricky. Then I extended the crank all the way to the front with the largest diameter I could for flywheel effect.
