Not garden railways but worth a look. This was definately not the local pick up goods.

Impressive.  Poster didn't get the "gold" service hence the lack of vista dome access ?

Not quite so long but a garden railway "long train" One in front, one in the middle and one at the back.  Still the "Rockies. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L-Yv2rQqxWY

I did have the gold service but this filming was from the open observation area and was me trying my best to get the best of a situation I hadn't planned for or expected.
My understanding is that from Jan 2016 the Rocky Mountaineer is only going to have the silver and gold service and the slightly cheaper red line is going to be no longer available. I could be wrong about this.
This is a really good train ride to go on and while it is very expensive the main negative factor is the weather. If the weather restricts the views of the mountatins it can affect the experience. Several people we met on the train had done it two or three times.
