I concreted the path crossing and had a big test with some mates over to run their trains too.

That looks really smart, Greg. The rain must have eased for long enough for it to set.

I must admit that I have never taken pics or even looked along that view before. It has the ugly background of the entry to the train room. Might try some heavily cropped pics. With some camouflage netting?
The pic above with the carriages show a nice background that I have never photographed either, so will have to try some videos from that view and see if I can focus without the path appearing too ugly.

I wouldn't worry to much about the background Greg. If the subject is interesting, as your's are, the background is not a big problem. But I am sure you will sort it to your satisfaction...

Every time I get some maintenance done, more pops up.

I think Mrs Wallaby visited last night ( https://gardenrails.org/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=13016 ) and the girder bridge at Maple Jn has been damaged. The repair crew were quickly on site with the big crane. And it is available for service with a severe speed restriction.

In reality the styrene is badly broken and will need some major work.

Oh dear that is a nuisance Greg. The trackside crew were out real quickly though. It's good to know that it is up and running again.
Those creatures are a menace when they decide to look in on the line aren't they. We have next doors moggie visit our's and it can do some damage, but not to that extent mate.

Looking at the broken bits from this end, the sunlight appears to have made the styrene quite brittle. Is it worth replacing those assemblies?

Yes the styrene does seem to be brittle. It is well painted and I have never had trouble with painted styrene outdoors before. Many other styrene buildings outside are much older. I used a lot of straight MEK as the glue when I made it 10 years ago. I think that MEK does that and have used 'proper' styrene glue ever since. (that's what you get for being a miser.)

Almost a year since I posted here and 7 months since I had some mates around to run trains.
So today 3 of us had a few hours fun on the truncated Sandstone and Termite.

Really good to see trains running once more on the SaTR, Greg. And some novel viewpoints in the video as well.

Sydney had a fair bit of rain today, and the track at Maple Jn turned into a lake, completely covering the tracks.
The Track Inspector seems pretty laid back though.

I'd always assumed the Australian climate was fairly dry until you pointed out to me that Sydney gets more rain per year than London

British Rail doesn't run trains if the tracks are submerged - you might wander off and get lost!

Any deeper and you'll have self-dousing ashpans.

We just get it in one big serve not spread all over the year.
Towns in the tropics used to measure their rain in feet. I lived in one where the gutters down one side of a street were 6Ft deep.
