Very effective.... possibly the best use of lollipop sticks in rolling stock I have seen.
The best things in life are free.... so why am I doing this?

Very realistic indeed! What finish did you use to get the weathered effect?

You just can't beat individual planks. Nice job, you should be pleased.
Grant.

The wood needs to be rubbed down with a wire brush so that it is rough and absorbs the solution in the grain.

Then, get yourself a plastic tub and fill it with white vinegar and some wire wool and leave overnight. ย In the morning, apply the solution with a brush (not too much though as the water will bow the wood). ย I normally do a few coats and use a fan heater to speed up drying time.

I also use crushed coal/charcoal and rub it in with my fingers on some planks.

It's really easy to do and I quite enjoy it!

Thanks for sharing that. It's a great tip, I shall give it a try as soon as the opportunity arises.

I love the planking on that wagon, it looks super - realistic. Nice job!
Garden railways don't run on steam or electric rather wine and Jedi master level patience
