eBay madness
Re: eBay madness
If you think these are bad you should have a look at the recent/current auction of Fred Dibners workshop. People have been bidding £10-25 for a rust nut and bolt from his workshop, small spanner’s have been going for triple figures!! Don’t even start on the old shirts!!! It does go to show that some people will pay anything for anything! eBay is not the bargain basement place it was when it started out.

Do you think he/she put the decimal point in the wrong place….listerboy wrote: ↑Fri Apr 06, 2018 5:31 pm https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre ... 3137599569
I think ambitiously priced is the phrase here!

The missis told him he had to get rid of his trains, because she thought it's childish. To keep his marriage sound, he told her he'ld try to sell it.

Could be a case of " I tried to sell them love....."

Re: eBay madness
I rarely buy from ebay. Bargains seem to be a thing of the past.
If I can't find what I want elsewhere its my place of last resort.

Re: eBay madness
There still are bargains, but you need to be lucky. Sometimes things are listed in the wrong category or with the wrong name or the seller has no clue whatshowever he's selling. You can't use the search bar for that. I've seen an Aster gauge 1 mogul live steam engine going for under 400 pounds a few months ago to name something. This loco ended somewhere during the week, was not listed as "live steam" or anything looking like it, brand name was not mentioned etc.
But at the end it's still another human being on the other side of ebay, so I want it to be a good selling for him or her as well. I'm happy that it's on the web anyway.

Re: eBay madness
I agree with Daan, I use eBay for loads of different purchases and although railway stuff goes for silly money mostly it's great for day to day bits and pieces.
Re: eBay madness
Do you want to buy a house or a Märklin train?

Re: eBay madness
You could not buy a house where I live for that price at the current exchange rate.
Re: eBay madness
I'm with Tom and Daan its great for bits but have to confess my grandson does very well on whisky night with the neighbour....Bruder tractors, playmobil trains and Little tikes cars to name but a few. Great for cheap cds if you haven't mastered downloading
Re: eBay madness
Well I have done very well on eBay when I had my N gauge stuff, you could get some very good deals, but for 16mm/32mm gauge it is a different story.

Re: eBay madness
I bought some stuff of ebay yesterday. I was given the choice of Free Postage and it would be here at the end of the week, or by paying £7 extra I could have it guaranteed for delivery today. I chose the Free Postage option. The package has just been delivered.

Re: eBay madness
This pile of junk is back on again, the original winner must have sensibly returned the item to the seller.

Why is it junk, I know nothing about it but and it's not something I would consider buying.

I see this is up for a third time but with the name Archangel thrown in for good measure.
