SM32 foot crossing timber kit

Post by andymctractor » Sun Jun 20, 2021 6:40 pm

These kits are more useful than I first thought they might be.

I’ve photographed a foot crossing constructed from a simple resin kit. In the photo the model has been painted but only put in place for the photo and needs to be fitted properly when I get round to ballasting.
My question is, Where did I buy this kit as I want some more?

Thanks

Can't help on the source Andy - have you had it 'in stock' for long? But it does look to be a useful item. With that as a guide, I'm sure you could knock something up in 5mm foamex?

Precisely what I was going to say- I've done exactly that myself.

Thanks all for replying.
I think I bought them within the last 12 months but can't be sure.
I need about 10 - 12 such crossings on my railway and I bought 6. I have a island platforms within passing loops and no bridges. Also a number of places which would make sense to have a foot crossing and they do look good.
They would not be technically very challenging to scratch but they would be time consuming and repetetive.
Also these kits do not depend on the 'timbers' adhering to the sleepers or the track bed as the 'timber' components stick to an insert that fits in the gap between rail and the sleeper on Peco sm32 track. You can see this insert through the gap for the wheels in the photo.
I will keep looking unless I run out of other things to do.

Hopefully you will find the maker. However, if you do decide to make more, what about making a resin mould - that would ease some of the repetition?

It's not a kit, but have you looked at Peco SL-801.
Sleepering for points, about 7" long and look like the same molding as the SM32 sleepers.

Certainly worth thinking about.
Thank to all.
With a bit of luck, I will be at the National Show and will keep my eyes open there to.

Hi All,
thanks for help.

Found the item on e-bay.
Have ordered 6 more which should be enough.
