Turntables
Turntables
Just if!.... Anybody is contemplating the addition of a turntable, I've just been idly browsing eBay and came across these potentially 'useful and interesting' items. Enter 'lazy Susan turntable' in the eBay SEARCH box. Lots of different sizes in weatherproof allow with nylon bearings. Hmmmm.....

Re: Turntables
I based my turntable on a 24" bicycle wheel, but a smaller 12" one could be used as well. Mounted horizontally, welded up a steel table and mounted it using the nuts normally used to fasten the cycle forks. Wheels at each end and a wood deck.

Re: Turntables
Mine is decidedly low tech.
A planter dish set into the ground, with a platform with ptfe grommets in contact with the edge of the dish, Allows fairly free movement whilst also stopping any tendency to self propel, or drift when a loco is on it.
The platform is a piece of decorative radiator cover, with plasticard wings, suitably embellished to look like stiffened steel rails
