Re: Faller mini play train

I really like the Faller Play Train stuff - the whole aesthetic just really works, I think. There's some lovely Faller-based stuff here: http://www.xn--gunnar-grbel-djb.de/html/faller_train/etrain/diarama/diarama.html I've never owned one of these particular sets, but have always liked the look of t...

Essel Engineering make a chain driven chassis if you think it suitable.

Re: Welcome to the CHLR

That's looking very good - could that wall on the right be a quarry face?! Like the slate wagons too - Lineside Hut? My dad had a layout in the loft when I was young, with old doors as baseboards, resting on tea chests, all pretty rickety I think. We didn't use it very often, but I still remember th...

You may not know, but K-S did build 4 wheeled diesels. Yours looks about right for the 30HP model. Aha! I think I did know once, but had forgotten, thank you for the reminder! Your message encouraged me to have another look for my copy of "Fifteen Shillings Change", the pamphlet you menti...

What a lovely loco! And the matt finish is stunning...

Looking forward to the promised shots of it running...

Re: North Avenue Line

Looking good. The goods over the windows remind me of a building begin my in-laws' house - which happens to be something to do with the water industry, pumping or treatment, maybe both. It's streaked with rust like yours too...

Cheers,

Andrew.

Re: The Great Garden Railway Inspection Reports

Great report, thank you - and some views of the line that I've not seen before too! If the worst the inspector's got to moan about is a rather laid-back approach by the staff and the odd leaf on the line, you must be doing something right!

With very best wishes to you both,

Andrew.

Kerr Stuart diesel

Hello! With the proportion of "proper" Welsh Highland and Ffestiniog stock on my railway gradually increasing, I've been thinking about a suitable battery powered loco to pull it when I don't fancy raising steam. I do have an Andel version of Moelwyn , but it's awaiting a new battery pack ...

Re: Tom's station building

That looks ace, do you take commissions Glad you like it, thanks! No, I'm not into commissions. I've got a list of projects a mile long to do, and very little time. Plus, if you charge for things, there's more pressure to get it right, and that's no fun! That said, given Tom's change of focus, this...

Nice picture! Might have to try some of those plants... Does your MYOB have any adverse impact on your SBR'd ballast Philip? I recently weeded mine where it had grown over some track which I ballasted earlier in the year, and it appeared to pull up some of the ballast, but I think it might just have...

Re: On the move again

Some of my earliest railway memories are of watching trains go by on the South Western mainline from my uncle's vicarage in a village near Salisbury... The garden there was massive, as I recall, but I imagine that place cost a bomb to maintain too and is quite possible no longer a vicarage... Anyway...

I like the design... Me too! A fantastic combination of aesthetics and operational interest, just the sort of thing I'd like to build if I had the space. Don't take this out of context, but you really have an eye for a good curve... I'm looking forward to watching the build progress. All the best, ...

Re: Plants for Garden Railways

I was tweaking a fishplate on the lift-out bridge next to the back gate the other day and wondered what all the strange yellow detritus all over the track was - looking up, I noticed that the box tree above it was a complete mess, which seems to be the work of the box tree moth. I'll find an alterna...
