Re: Southwold stock
My latest project is to create models of every type of goods stock which ran on the Southwold Railway. The models have come up well, especially the bodywork prints from the new printer. I was wondering how long it would take for this to happen. You do of course realise that they are like potato chi...

Looks good, Simon. It'll be interesting to see what appears on top of the build plates when their imaginations run wild.

I was just about to post the link. You beat me to it. As you say, idyllic. Happy to watch it for as long as it takes.Peter Butler wrote: ↑Tue Dec 22, 2020 1:00 pm Part 2.....

Re: Southwold stock
How can you do watermarks without giving the stl file away for free by uploading it online at some site or another? Not sure. I'm wondering whether to embed some lettering into each part somehow. It won't stop someone determined enough to erase them but it might prevent someone just downloading and...

Re: Southwold stock
Well they look just the part, amazing work there Rik   Any chance of the stl files going in the download section? Hi Steve Certainly will. I'm just tweaking the drawings. I find, after I've constructed each one, I have to go back and make a few amendments. Sometimes it's bec...

Re: Southwold stock
Brilliant ! The photo looks like they grow from right to left. They sure are nice looking prototypes to start with. BTW what is the actual wheelbase of them? Thanks Greg. The van's wheelbase is 5ft, the other stock's is 5ft 6in and the long wheelbase van I'm presently printing is 6ft. There are som...

Southwold stock
My latest project is to create models of every type of goods stock which ran on the Southwold Railway. The 3D printer is a great help because the majority of stock was manufactured by the same company and so there's some commonality of parts though, of course, the wagons got modified over the years....

Re: Adventures with a Flashforge
I've been pondering about the discussion about shrinkage etc. Doesn't it depend on how your printer has been calibrated? There are so many variables at play between drawing and printing - but at the end of the day, isn't what comes out on the printbed dependent on how each printer has been set-up? I...

Fascinating array of motive power, particularly on the first layout.

Re: A new cheapo printer
I don't tend to leave things printing overnight - partly for security reasons (I can't put the alarm on in the workshop if there are hot things moving about) and partly because I like to keep checking how the print is going every hour or so having had a couple of print disasters. I certainly find ha...

Re: Lego Wagon
It's very reassuring you mention the curling issue. I had that quite badly, and had already got as far as cleaning the bed with IPA. This has made an improvement to the situation - but I do still get curling albeit only very close the semi-circle where you pull the bed out - near the gap in the hea...

Re: Lego Wagon
I think I can use the sole bars from Rik's Southwold van for the wagons to save me designing those (thanks Rik!) I can give you access to the original TinkerCAD drawings if you want, Simon. Just drop me a PM. You could then copy and paste my drawings into new designs of your own - and then change t...
