Re: The B.E.R - Construction begins

Thanks for the comments Gents. Nice busy yard area. You thought about how you are going to go about uncoupling and operating the run around loop at ground level? The loop is arm length from the edge of the line to the furthest loop. I'm not planning on doing any coupling/uncoupling there anyway! Tha...

Re: The B.E.R - Construction begins

Its happening! Work has started on the extension. Its broken into two phases to make it manageable. Phase one makes use of existing track and runs for 15ft down the garden installing a passing loop and three sidings. Phase 2 finishes off the running line and will either end in another runround loop ...

Re: Bowaters Models - 16mm Rolling Stock Kits

Looking good Jon! In the 7mm drawing book you should have a drawing of 122. As the F&WHR have said that it will now permanently live on the WHR, might be a good idea to do this one as well! Also, carriage 100 will be converted to a 3rd obs like carriage 123. Will there be an option for the 3rd ...

Re: Bowaters Models - 16mm Rolling Stock Kits

Looking good! Any particular reason why the obs aren't being produced? Technical reasons namely the curved end of the coach. It is doable but will mean it would be significantly more expensive coach than the rest. That said, if the demand is there, we can look to review the decision. At the moment, ...

Re: The B.E.R - Construction begins

Have you thought about adding an inertia wagon Jon, it would make your trains run much slower and give longer run time (helps on little lines like ours). The thought does cross my mind from time to time. That said, I get fairly slow speeds with the engines as it is. Its just a case of choosing the ...

Quick question though, how do you paint your MDF panels?
Happy days! I tend to just prime them and paint normally. No need for special attention. Some people use wood sealer but I don't tend to bother.

Cheers,

Jon

Re: The B.E.R - Construction begins

Having got back from work eariler than planned, time to run a train. A rudy heavy one at that! Stock was my Welshpool set which although not very heavy, don't roll as nicely as they should (I really should Oil them at some point.......) plus Superior. A nice heavy loco to test it all properly (well,...

Re: Bowaters FR carriages

Anyone had any experience with these kits? Quite fancy a modern FR rake but the droplight windows on the obs look way too narrow? The others look great however! Just seen this  They're based on what little information I could find for them as surprisingly, the FR didn't even answer my e-mails...

A train of five of them behind a steamer is going to look spectacular. You mean like this? http://www.bowatersmodels.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/DSC0049.jpg Leader and 5 FR coaches together. And who knows, that train might get even longer soon....... :D Back from work early and the weather is ...

Re: The B.E.R - Construction begins

Only one image from today. First test runs were done with my IPE Jessica and two FR coaches. Surprisingly level for something I've built! Not bad really. Need to get some heavier locos running over it to start fully bedding it in but I'm happy. That's for another day unless I get back early enough f...

Thanks for all the comments guys. It's so good to finally get something permanent down! Well done Jon, It looks great now you've got some ballast down. It's a nice, neat and tidy bit of work. After a long discussion with the landlords, it's finally happened! A permanent line has appeared in my garden.
