Re: A Way In
I would say a mamod train set is a good way in, its size puts one firmly out in the garden and those locos are highly upgradable, not to mention relatively cheap especially on the second hand market, as well as familiarising the owner with the workings of a live steamer, the sectional track enables ...

Re: For fans of the Southwold...
Those Sharp Stewart engines supplied to the Southwold were really quite pleasing, they supplied a metre gauge 0-6-0 version for the Guernica railway in 1888, works no. 3435 http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7tKzRSXlq1U/U4jyQ7Y45HI/AAAAAAAAHWY/KFNCQH4NAkQ/s1600/079+Familia+Reigadas,+Exposici%C3%B3n+ferroviar...

Re: The Skebawn and Castleknox Light Railway and Tramway
Heres hoping the old Skebawn and Castleknox line makes a triumphant return in its new location, as for the outdoor gradient, I can sympathise-- our garden is just as un-level as one can be also! Then again, the T&D was heavily graded, justifying double heading, but unfortunately no easy solution...

Re: Any china clay modellers in the garden railway world?
Be interested to see a pic of one of them - I could add a clay or sand industry to my line quite easily Cheers Mark Whilst I get used to posting pictures on the new forum format, I refer you to the last photo in this thread https://gardenrails.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=11061 They are very ...

Re: ØVJ at the moment...
The version I heard was that Regner were undergoing reorganisation, so production is unaffected. Perhaps someone with better information than us on the periphery of things will be able to set us straight. Greetings from Virginia! Peter in VA According to mamod, regner have unfortunately gone into r...

*blows 6 years worth of dust off thread*
I like china clay as an industry for my line, having bought five very nice clay wagons from James from Devon on here, the pentewan railway is also intriguing as a modelling prospect!

Yes, 2009 or so I'm told, a real pitySteamcoaster wrote: ↑Tue May 30, 2017 3:12 pm I think Tom Cooper died quite sometime ago. I don't have all the details. I helped him out at the Imrex model railway show in London about 1987.
I have an old Merlin Midas but it's on poor shape mechanically.

If it was me, I would use roundhouse equipment as a basis, or if you must have a mamod derivative, the roy wood models Janet is probably your best bet.

Re: Liveries
If your locos are getting painted dark blue, just don't forget to paint their cab roofs white!! George England painted their engines dark blue as a standard colour, I like that and other pre grouping liveries like secr and furness railway colours, on the full size there was once an engine pain...
