Re: The G&DLR begins.

Thank you. It was quite a job using just hand tools but I got there in the end. I think the layout is effectively done for the moment but there's still a fair bit more to do - adding the station buildings, signals buffer stops plus other little bits which should be done in the next couple of months ...

Re: Semi-scale BR: bridge upgrade

I've been busy adding rivets to my new rolling stock - it's for want of a better word tantamount to the lower levels of purgatory. The weird irony is the real bridge I based mine on was was actually welded so god only know what inclined me to add them. Absolutely beautiful model my friend. It proper...

Re: Semi-scale BR: The Modernisation Plan

Nice - unfortunately my other options for locos would be steam an O2 or Terrier. You could try a class 20. I remember someone building a 'G-or Something' scale one years ago on RMWeb. They were using Playmobile R/C stock and it looked the part. I'll see if I can dig anything up on it. Edit - I've fo...

Re: The G&DLR begins.

Hello everyone - apologies. I've been very busy as of late. Thank still for the kind words regarding my mum. Time is helping little by little and there's nothing more to do than keep on moving but it is still keenly felt. The railway has had a bit of a growth spurt since I was last around - the wago...

Re: NEW FWLR LINE

Lovely work and I hope the personal issues are on the mend too.

That coal stage is an impressive wee beastie. I do hope to eventually get an 3D printer soon, mainly for being able to make little bits which are taking a little more than 10 hours to make.

Peter Farley

I'm saddened to report the passing of Peter Farleybof PDF Models.

Although I had never bought one of his kits (it was actually on my bucket list for this year), the consenus was that they were brilliant and he was a gentleman.

My thoughts are with his family at this time.

Re: G&DR Rolling Stock

Why Thank you.

Very true, these wagons are fairly cheap and reasonably to built. They're also very simple kits which allow themselves to be upgraded and modified quite easily and cheaply.

Re: G&DR Rolling Stock

Despite having a lovely four day holiday away from work it's been jam packed now that we're allowed to visit some friends and family members outside. However, I managed to cram some modelling in tonight. So far, and thanks to an anonymous benefactor I've began plans to extend the line somewhat over ...

Re: Brandbright coaches on R1 curves.

Thanks for the feedback. I had seen others do this to them but was unsure have invasive the bogie fittings would be. Looks like it'll be hunting around for the appropriate bogies.

Re: G&DR Rolling Stock

Cheers guys. I'm hoping it all pulls off in the end. Still a way to go but most of the body fittings have been completed. I've managed to get the main bits for the refrigerator wagon sorted. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51067376827_d34ce99cbc_c.jpg This is loosely base don the LNER refrigerat...

Brandbright coaches on R1 curves.

Hello.

A quick question, I've got sone brandbright 4 wheeled panel coaches to build soonish and my line only has lgb r1 curves.

Has anyone had any experience with them on this type of track?

I'm just wondering if i need to procure bogies instead of building them as bought

Thank you

Re: G&DR Rolling Stock

I also managed to make the vents for the fruit van. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51037990858_ef4f0bb8c9_c.jpg I'm basing this on the GWR type so it requires double vents at the top and either side of the ends. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51038820597_688543b155_c.jpg The basal wood ven...

Re: G&DR Rolling Stock

So cracking back on with the wagons, and whilst the other half takes the little one to see his nanny. I took the opportunity to create some bits for the van rake. Thew pasts so far have just been pieces of Balsa, plasticard and triangular plastic strip along with rivets from Cambrian models. https:/...

Re: G&DR Rolling Stock

Awh bless them, I'm not looking forward to that day but it happens. Even I veered away when I was younger but got back into it big time as I had a girlfriend in Liverpool which required regular train journeys. Ah, I remember that project. Was really impressed and thought about doing something simila...

Re: G&DR Rolling Stock

Thank you, again being in Teesside, it feels a little more natural to have something representative. Something I wished I had gotten by Lady Anne in the green so I could have done her as an NER loco. He loved trains and most other things with wheels. Just active encouraging really, one thing me and ...

Re: Hornby Magazine - Building the Festiniog

It wasn't too bad, what I saw, as I'm currently working on a 009 gauge project it was quite invested in it until family duties called. I do wish Hornby and Bachmann would stop producing things to tempt money form my wallet though.

Re: G&DR Rolling Stock

Thank you everyone. It was quite an enjoyable rebuild. Much more than my current 009 gauge one. As mentioned before the IP Engineering stuff particularly are nice and simple kits both in the build and their design. I've found just a little more effort in them than the one Brandbright kit I've made b...

Re: G&DR Rolling Stock

Why thank you. They're all works in progress and for the moment continue to be. So, whilst continuing the the trend of updating and modifying current stock I set my mind to the brake van. Going back a few posts (and many many years ago) I built my brake van. At the time I was fairly happy with it, I...
