Re: West Lancashire Light Railway
I think there was an article of it in Heritage Railway...oh some 20 years ago now. There was a photo of kids no older than myself then driving this little clapped out Ruston Hornsby diesel. An interesting little line that made me want to do it myself, but my friends were never into trains and there ...

That is an awesome build my friend. Reminds me of the Military Bedfords from the 80s.

Those books are superlative. You will have fun getting folks to look through the windows, and it will be worth their while  TBH Ge-Rik, you were at least one of the people guilty of inspiring me to do this and many other things (big admirer over here) haha tell me about it, I stuck the bui...

Re: The G&DLR continues
It certainly is! There's the finished articles. The work wasn't are arduous as I would have lead to be believe a few years back. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51384133177_dc530da39c_c.jpg The book were just off cut squares of 5mm foamex, painting with a crazy assortment of Vajello paints I've ...

Re: The G&DLR begins.
That's a fair little point  The main reason is that I'm planning to light them up and I'm not a fan of seeing buildings lit up that look like empty high street shops on a night. It's a question I've been asking myself about the other building I'm working on, the station masters house. I was thi...

Re: G&DR Rolling Stock
Score, someone was doing to roof work recently around our ends no lead was found. I'll check HGLW and Fleabay I've been meaning to buy from them for a while now and I'm going to do a bit of a shop when I get paid on Thursday. The main issue is the meat wagon which is one of the newer plywood models ...

Re: The G&DLR begins.
Some update on the restorative work of the station. I've mangled to get everything built, varnished and now the waiting room is looking more like a waiting room. The exterior is a bit shabby still but that will be one of the last things to do. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51377339232_6f29b779...

Re: G&DR Rolling Stock
I'm terrible for over engineering then after I've finished realised there was a far more simpler or effective way of doing the same thing. So some further update on the wagon. I thought distance shots would be better as my sign writing leaves a lot to be desired. First of all, these are going to be ...

I've noticed the website is still active and nothing in the Latest news but it looks like it has stopped selling. I do hope he has found a buyer and this is a process of transitioning. Either way his health take's priority and would rather he not run himself to the ground than being able to get anot...

Re: The G&DLR begins.
I'm hoping mine's going to remain fine scale for the moment but I reckon it's be able to take on an Old Bassett Lowke in time. :D Apologies for the late reply - I've just come back from a lovely camping trip with a multitude of weathers. I've a few days off from work still so I'm hoping to crack on ...

Re: The G&DLR begins.
Again drips and drabs as work continues on the wagons. I've managed to add some slightly overcall solar lights. I bought them on a whim from BnM for £3 - I managed this weekend to get them painted up in BR (NE) colours. Admittedly I would much have preferred the traditional type you find on railways...

Re: G&DR Rolling Stock
As a result I am considering to invest in a 3d printing machine as the overall effect is alright but I'm hoping it just blends into the wagon rather than stands out as I'm still not 100% convinced. The amount of wagons I've got to build or improve on is making me weight up the costs and effort of b...

Re: G&DR Rolling Stock
Each colour conveys the wagon's specific duty. All different, but I love the way they harmonise, they'll look great in a train - well chosen! I'll try to take a photo of my simplified brake gear later in case it's of interest - nothing like as detailed as Cambrian, but it gives the impression that ...

Re: G&DR Rolling Stock
Thank you everyone. Ah the brake gear, well, pfft where do I start. A lot of effort and anything but the gentlest of handling will cause all your hard work to fall apart. I'm hoping it's going to be worth it in the end. As a result I am considering to invest in a 3d printing machine as the overall e...
