Re: Upgraded MSS loco - expecting too much?

On the last video posted showing the steam coming from the front of the cylinder, does it run when lifted off the rolling road? Were the wheels binding on the rolling road? Just wondering as I've experienced issues with the wheel gauge and profile of some MSS wheel sets. Obviously has nothing to do ...

Re: Brass tube diameter

I have the standard boiler with the higher pressure pressure safety valve and steam regulator kit from Dream Steam, I bought their pressure gauge and syphon at the same time thinking that it should be easy to fit. there is no take off on the regulator for the pressure valve, so I was thinking of pu...

Re: Brass tube diameter

The copper pipe size is 1/8”. However, unless I’ve misunderstood your intention, you can’t install a pressure gauge in line from between the reversing block and steam regulator. Do you have the standard boiler and an in-cab regulator installed or do you have a high pressure after market boiler with ...

Re: Beyer Peacock 0-6-0T (822) 'The Earl' - Scratch Built? or Kit?

I started to do a bit of work on the engine but then had a change of heart and decided to sell it on. I'm sure it will be put into running order by the new owner who was very happy with it.

Re: A new MSS locomotive and tank wagon

The new MSS is a nice little engine. It looks really smart and they run well - although I use mine with gas rather than the solid fuel blocks. The painted boiler holds up well with the gas firing. Gas is a cleaner burn than the solid fuel though so you may get more discoloration with the blocks. The...

Beyer Peacock 0-6-0T (822) 'The Earl' - Scratch Built? or Kit?

I have recently purchase this engine along with some other items and wondered what you make of it? It's clearly a model of the Beyer Peacock 0-6-0T no. 1 (822) 'The Earl'. It's a steam outline electric but it doesn't have any 'innards' :D The motion looks good and it actually works very well. The ce...

Re: Mamod Display and Motley Miniatures

Thanks for more pictures. I still love the stationary engine conversion. I will confess that ( for no real good reason) I've never been a Mamod fan but after seeing some of these I really think I ought to get one to share with the grandson when he's older. Some of these must have been fun to build ...

Re: Mamod Display and Motley Miniatures

Superb collection. Brilliant paintwork on them too. Do you have a special technique for painting? Is that the charming little black saddle tank Rebecca I see in one of the pix? I remember seeing that loco before and being impressed. Hi Invicta280. When I first started building these Mamodifications...
