Electric turnout mechanism

I'm sure that quite a long time ago, somebody ( can't remember who) mentioned using electric car window motors for turnout operation. I've been searching but can't find it, can anyone point me in the right direction please?

Re: New loco build - Kerr Stuart

I echo what the others have said, it's a beautiful job, well done. My only thought, just in case you haven't already thought of it yourself, is weight. The one drawback of using styrene for loco's is lack of inherent weight and the need to find room and fixing points for a sizeable chunk of metal if...

For ballast I use granite from here: http://resinbondedaggregates.com/product/daltex-green-granite-2mm-resin-bound Although it is called "green" it is the normal greenish grey colour that most ballast seems to come in. Look around the site, they do a huge range of types and sizes. This sho...

Looking good Dwayne.
I do envy you with ground that stays put, not like my clay that goes up, down and sideways with the weather(literally!)

I've only done a few smallsh areas, to fill defective patches and/or trackwork mods, but I found that applying it from a spray bottle works quite well and doesn't cause the clumping that dripping on to dry ballast can do. Afine spray and go over 2 or three times to ensure penetration. Finally just r...

Its all looking very good.
It will be a shame if you do have to move before being able to enjoy the completed works, but OTOH, most of it can be put in boxes and taken with you and when you are able to start again you'll have accumulated a lot of knowledge to make the next version even better.

I like the engine sounds, not so sure about the horn though. My wife, who didn't know what I was looking at, said, "Whats that? It sounds like a Cuckoo?"

Agreed, they do look nice.
Are the arms made of wood or is that an illusion? I'd be concerned about the effects of rain/snow/occasional sunshine?

Hi Planty,  I see that you used foamboard for the building of the church and no doubt you will be using the same for the signal box, what is the life span of this board when left outside in all weathers and what adhesive did you use to join pieces together regards freelander Freelander, Not to hija...

I have yet to find a garden solar power pack that lasts more than six months. I've got tons of LED lights - just nothing to power them! I tend to agree with that, Andrew. My other half likes our back garden to look like Blackpool prom and spends a small fortune in Poundstretcher replacing fa...

I'm no expert on NYM colouring, but I think the station house stone colour looks spot on generally for weathered stone 'oop north'.
Well done.

Dress making press studs come in a variety of sizes and can make a reasonable approximation of a chain wheel if not seen in too much detail.

Re: Sex on the Forum.

The pictures aren't great but you can clearly see the number of little heads there.  The strange thing is that despite this annual event, we see so few frogs during the year even though there are always thousands of tadpoles.... where do they go? We have a smallish pond in our garden with a very he...

Some railways weren't that particular about the colour match if they were in a hurry. Since the railways we favour pre-date accurate colour matching by very many years, the actual paint used on any given vehicle would have been mixed up by the foreman painter, using a basic recipe and gauged by eye...

I can't. I get a page that says, quote:

"Something's wrong here...

Uh oh, Bitly couldn't find a link for the bitly URL you clicked.

Most Bitlinks are 4-6 characters, and only include letters and numbers (and are case sensitive). "

(I've got no idea what a bitly URL or link is either!)
