I'd like to see a re-gaugeable "entry level" freelance loco join Bertie and Millie. One model to cater for both gauges, affordable to newcomers and those of us on a tight budget, and an appeal to fans of customising - what a winner! ;) As a complete beginner with a tight budget of my own,...

Not sure what you mean... Do you mean to ask if any of us know who made it? Or are you asking about the locomotive it is based on?

I just found this on EBay, and I thought I should let you guys know about it: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Live-Steam-LGB-16mm-SM32-SM45-Cheaddar-Henschel-Riesa-0-4-0WT-/271271996972?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item3f29122e2c It's a Cheddar Models Henschel in 45mm gauge. It comes fully kitted ...

The thought had occurred to me but I am incredibly impatient sometimes and the danger is that I would get halfway through, drop it all and say "Sod it!" And go out and buy some pre-built rail :P

That was the model of that American locomotive, correct? It was a very impressive piece of engineering, I have to say. But then again it did sound just like a real-life locomotive, which was nice.

Looking at it, Peco SL-600 code 200 track is available for £87 for 12 yards, whereas Tenmille code 200 NS track is £141.80 for 15 yards. If the quality margin is slight then is it worth paying that much extra for it?

What I do like the idea of, however, is the track with real wooden sleepers.

That sounds interesting... Is there a link for that video? Yeah I remember sitting in a field with my friends not long ago watching someone with a model jet plane. It was very impressive I have to say and it sounded like a jet too! I would have to experiment with such a thing I think before I could ...

What about if I were to build a larger layout, what sort of track does everyone recommend for that? I know the Peco track is good value for such a thing, but looking at Tenmille track it seems like a good bet too. Does anyone have any experience with either?

I'm hoping that I will be finding some real gems over the next couple of months. I will be paying a local specialist a visit at some point. Then there's the Model Railway exhibition in Swindon next week, plus the Exeter garden railway exhibition in October which I shall be attending, hopefully!

Haha! I can't find anything but 45mm Mamods and IP Janes around, unless I go to Ebay where there are a couple of 32mm Mamods around. Anything Narrow Gauge has a second-hand IP Jane in 45mm as well. It just means now that I have options if I see an old Mamod for, say, £100 but it's 45mm I can still s...

Re-gauging Mamods

I apologise if this is a daft question, but how easy is it to re-gauge Mamods and other similar locos (IP Jane, RWM Jane, PPS Jane etc)? I'm just asking because of second-hand availability. It seems easier to find 45mm gauge Mamods second-hand than it is 32mm ones. Is it a simple case of replacing t...

Ohhh really? Wow that's proof of misunderstanding between British English and American English :P But I definitely saw an article somewhere about a gas turbine standard gauge prototype... Yeah I've seen the videos of the "diesel"-electrics on Youtube, but I was thinking of something that is powered by gas, not liquid fuel. The British built a couple of prototypes for the standard gauge after the war but they never really took off. Power was produced by a gas turbine that dr...

Gas-Electric Models

There's been a lot of talk about "Live Diesel" models, but has anyone constructed a Gas-powered electric locomotive? Is it even possible at the 16mm scale?
