Yeah that's fair enough. And I completely agree with you on the other point: if you are planning on creating a 16mm scale layout on 32mm gauge, then it doesn't make sense to buy 45mm track. It would be better to spend a little extra to buy the right gauge track, because then you don't have to re-buy...

I think my problem is that if I start with Mamod track, I would either have to continue with Mamod track or replace it all with Peco track. I just couldn't stand having two different types of track in one layout; it would annoy the hell out of me.

Isn't that some sort of psychological condition? :P

There doesn't seem to be a large amount of track on Ebay at the moment and buying Mamod track brand new is actually quite expensive from what I can see (if anyone knows better, please correct me!). From 'dreamsteam.co.uk', 8 x 12" straight sections will cost you £33.30. However, from 'track-sha...

He still does that model as far as I know! I imagine it would be almost as expensive. It'll be one of those treats I will buy myself once I get some money together and saved up :)

I assume it does mean that he will build you 45mm gauge locos if you request it. I have my eye on 32mm, however, and eyeing up the Rheidol 2-4-0T tank engine. Also the Sgt Murphy with Marshall valve gear is perfect for what I have in mind! But that's £1600 apparently. If I told you what the Rheidol ...

Well I got in contact with Stewart and to my delight he does take commissions still. However, I think I will be having to save up quite a bit of money before I get my hands on one of those beauties!

So, it's safe to say that the website is wholly inaccurate and that they certainly do not do any more builds? That is a shame :(

Archangel Range

I found the website for what's left of Archangel and they still do limited commissions of their original range. I know that they were very popular way-back-when but has anyone bought one from them recently? Does anyone have any experience with one of these locos? Link to the website in case anyone's...
