Re: Headlamp housings

Answering both of you..

That sort of idea, but more of a point to the back.

Draw a semi-circle, grab the centre of the curve at the back, and 'pull' it outwards a little..

Headlamp housings

I have recently bought a railtruck kit, and it has a cross-piece with circular ends, with a hole for a LED. Think the older truck, with the lights sticking out either side of the bonnet. Does anyone know of a 3D print (possibly) of a parabolic housing, that these had? I just think it will lift the m...

Re: Atropos Rolling Stock Kits

The only 'numbered' screwdrivers I know of, are Post Office designations, but a 'Number 4' is a medium-width slot driver, with a longer shaft. - I would have thought this a little thick, in the blade, for this? I would think one of those cheap, small screwdrivers (used to be in a holder like a solit...

Re: Ooops! - I have bought this

Yesterday (Easter Saturday) there was a meeting of the 'Irregulars' at WIGFA.. The loco was looked-over by Dave Mees (Abbeybach Engineering Services) and it was noted that the gas tank was a later Roundhouse model. There was a small split in the (thin-walled) silicon gas pipe and, as noted before, t...

Re: The First Great Project...

I suggest you try to keep your track on the level. - Gradients tend to be bad-news, especially if you end up with a grade on a bend. Keep curves as generous as you can. If you have an idea of what you want to model, we can be a little more specific. - Narrow gauge, short-wheelbase loco's, you can go...

Re: Cheapo diesel sound card

To answer the last two posts, in order: A 100 ohm pot getting hot, across the speaker output is a little worrying. - I don't have one of these cards to play with / work out the circuit, so advise caution, until 'we' can find more detail. The second query, is easier to answer : These cards are set up...

Re: Cheapo diesel sound card

Just take a breath, Guys.... These cards are fed with a variable width servo pulse, not a logic '0' or '1', so the 1k or 4k7 resistor is not required. Adding resistors here will not reduce the sound-level. To add a volume control, you could add a 100 ohm pot across the speaker output, and the speake...

Re: Cheapo diesel sound card

I would be a little wary of powering these Soundcards from the MR603 onboard regulator.

I draw your attention to the following extract from the MR603 manual:

"3.3V from the on-board regulator which can supply a max of 200mA"

Re: Gmeinder & Co loco

I don't think it was standard, and may be considered as a step too far, in authenticity?

I think I would leave it off.

Re: Cheapo diesel sound card

A Micron supplied MR603c does not have a pin configured for a servo output by default. - It will need programing. A RC Trains supplied MR603c (look for the label, or 'T' hand-written on one of the chips) has a servo output, for external ESC or soundcard, configured on Pin6 in RC Trains configuration...

Re: Ooops! - I have bought this

So did you get the old Anna going once she arrived? These old Beck have brass boilers, something to keep an eye on and drain dry when the locomotive is not in service to prevent the water from drawing the zinc out of the brass. Yes the notch is for a servo rod to go forward to a crank arm mounted i...

Re: Gmeinder & Co loco

Now there is a challenge for the weathering experts!

A little sad, when the custodians of heritage let it rot, but I suppose there is only some much time, money, and man-hours?

Re: Cheapo diesel sound card

Not sure if Andy has any Tx2 left?

I am into single-figures, then it becomes a little more of a job. - The Micron module is a different beast, but the peripherals remain the same.

Re: Cheapo diesel sound card

Rik, You said: Moving the direction switch to the "forward" position should increment the fashing by one flash. So, if it flashes once, clicking the direction switch forward should make it flash twice, clicking it forward again should increase it to three. Is that what you mean by "in...

Re: Cheapo diesel sound card

If you can change the number of flashes for the other options, you should be able to change any of them. - You are sending the same commands.. It could be you have either an older/earlier version receiver, and the firmware is slightly different. Or, There could be a 'feature' in the code in the rece...

Re: Cheapo diesel sound card

3,2,1,1 Would set Pin2 to be a servo output, following Ch1 (throttle). Getting the receiver into programming mode, will be the problem.. Would be less than a minute, with a Tx20. I ought to know where in the country you are, but the brain isn't retrieving the information so well, these days.. We are...

Re: Cheapo diesel sound card

You can prove that Ch4 is driving the soundcard, by setting your Tx22 to control Ch4 from the Inertia pot. - It will be centre-off, so you will need to set it to the mid position.. A programming change (on the receiver) will be needed, to set up P2 to be a servo output following H1 (the speed contro...
