Bird box

For the third year in a row, my birdbox has found inhabitants.
It is equipped with a webcam:

The webcam is fitted in a double-ceiling, looking down into the nest.
The entrance is at the top of the picture.

Re: Tinpalte loco ID?

Hi Andrew, yes, it is a third-rail pickup. The wheel is typical for early Bing. It creates a spectacular trail of sparks when running at high speed on dirty tracks. The motor has a permanent magnet, so definitely DC. As the rotor is burnt out there is no chance of testing it without causing further ...

Tinpalte loco ID?

Once again I am looking for help. This loco arrived today. Marked only "Made in Germany". The motor looks like Bing so my idea is Bing for Bassett Lowke. Can anyone verify or correct this? I am looking for a matching tender. The coupling rod on one side is missing, so I need a spare and th...

Re: Looking for help: 3d model

Hi Rik,

The whole layout is O-gauge.
The middle circle is Fleischmann two-rail DC. The sleepers are cardboard.
Next is the clockwork circle with a siding and engine shed.
The rest is three-rail AC.
I also run Clockwork and livesteam on that part.

Re: Looking for help: 3d model

Here is the final result.

I had to adjust height and diameter to fit the original.
Still haven´t figured out what the problem was.

Original tin pot on the left, printed one beside, printed and slightly weathered ones on the wagon.

Thanks to everyone who helped.

Re: Peckforton Light Railway - Video Library

Hi Rik,

at 0:50 it seems that the last wagon of the train touches the wagon in the siding.
Is that true or just an optical illusion?

Re: (WH)WHR Rolling Stock

Loooks good. There is one thing that always fascinates me (I first noticed this effect on my 5" geuge wagons): you have a wagon body with "bits put on it". Nails, Rivets, handrails,...That´s how it looks. Then after the paint is on, it looks like it is one piece. I would only do a lig...

Success

My 5" gauge Reichsbahn class 55 steamer wasn´t running well so I had to check and set the valve gear. Walschaert/Heusinger outside, nothing serious but....piston valves. Slide valves are easy to set "by eye". I spent quite some time trying to get it right. Today there was good weather...

Re: Looking for help: 3d model

First prints were successful.
Pots look good and have the right shape.

Something must have gone wrong during the data conversion as it is too big by a factor of 1.4.
Strange.
Will look into it and show pics after the right size has been printed.

Re: Looking for help: 3d model

Hi Philip,

the seam is optional.
I am planning to have some more printed. some will be "stored" on a pallet as replacements.
A friend has a resin printer, so this could be done without problems.
Just leave the top 2 mm open.

I have never used Sketchup. Might be worth looking at.

Re: Looking for help: 3d model

Wow. Looks great.

How did you get the curved body done?
What wall thickness your you recommend for printing if made hollow?
The original pot is really thin metal.
Du you think 0.5 mm will do?

Re: Looking for help: 3d model

OK, here we go. It was difficult to measure as the sides are curved. These are the main dimensions (in mm): IMG_20220912_234221.jpg and another picture to show the profile: IMG_20220912_234208.jpg I do not need a 100% match. It should just look right from normal viewing distance. Best regards Holger

Re: Llewellyn Loco Works #1

Two sides of the same coin. A whistle is needed to warn people walkin in front of a (in my case 5" gauge) train, to communicate with other drivers (banking loco), warn others when entering a junction (W sign near the track), starting off or other things. Without the whistle, something is missin...

Looking for help: 3d model

Ooops, that went wrong.... https://up.picr.de/44248093rg.jpg https://up.picr.de/44248094cz.jpg Just kidding, the pot is made up of two halves. This is an old Märklin acid pot wagon. I only have one pot. The wagon holds four. Could anyone draw up a 3D model so I could have some more printed? https://...
