Looking at the gearing I would say it would p...

The idea is lovely an ideal teaching aid when teaching some younger members of a club years back I used copper slug tape to do a similar thing :D

This is far simpler its probably only a matter of time before there is an out door version :)

In AZ heat expansion was my bugbear, but it was an intermittent problem generally confine to June and July when ground temperature was anything up to 130F.  Then a curve would pop out of the ballast quite suddenly creating an instant derailment blackspot.  The temperature range on my line in a typi...

The birth of a new line

We finally sorted the theme for our garden railway. The Pasty and serpentine Railway There is a famous Pasty Factory within the village also this area is the only place in the country where serpentine is mined. Since the Serpentine is a specialised item it would not be moved in quantities and would ...

That's a lovely job scratch building at its best you have me thinking now as I am considering a little train of hopper wagons for my little diesel loco. A solder station is good, some are very cheap now too. At the end of the day it is a temperature controlled iron which is exactly what you need for...

I like your buffer stop, looks far better than those plastic things probably a lot more robust too.

I,m going to copycat your idea on our quarry road track in our garden.

I tend to use a micro torch for most of my work with along with a temp controlled 60w one for detailing stuff. With thin metals such as tinplate heat distortion can be a real problem. a decent solder and a decent flux make all the difference. Any tips on how to avoid distortion would be appreciated...

Running in reworked MSS chassis

After straightening the chassis and cleaning the rubbing faces on the cylinders and reboring the hole on the reversing valve to make it sit at 90 degrees to the rubbing face grinding it correctly I finally got the chassis ready to run. I had to bore the wheels fit some brass bush's then drill and re...

I love the set up such a lot going on in such a tight space, well done on the crossing it certainly looks right. :D We have opted for laying our track on thermal blocks for now but but I like the idea of the moss invading the track it will look better and better as things grow. we need A rethink may...
