Re: 3 D Printing 16mm models

Those plastic cover sheets sound interesting This is the one for my m/c. Amazon also list what appear to be similar but different sizes, for other Qidi models but they aren't blue so not sure if they are actually the same. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Platform-Sticker-QIDI-TECH-Printer/dp/B07N2NKKPQ/re...

Those are some lovely pictures Aaron and an amazing transformation from when you started just a relatively short time ago, back in April. Very well done indeed.

Re: 3 D Printing 16mm models

My QidiTech One has a blue plastic sheet glued ( with 3M double side tape) to the heated aluminium bed. The bed is leveled by adjusting three spring loaded screws under the plate and manually moving the extruder around and tweaking the screws with a supplied plastic sheet between the headand bed. It...

Re: 3 D Printing 16mm models

The bed seems to require re-levelling at regular intervals. Sometimes it can be a couple of weeks before it needs re-adjustment but this week it's needed to be done after each print. I think thats pretty much par for the course across most, if not all, makes. Of course it's more obvious if you are ...

So sorry for you and the family, but as you say you need to keep yourself looking forward and just remember the good parts of the past.

That water tower and coal stage (and the little table) look superb.

Re: The Railway in the Valley of the Mill

Looks fascinating. What is the actual level difference between the two tracks/steps, it looks to be something around 750mm? If so, at your 1:60 gradient you'll need a straight run of around 45metres, plus a bit more because of the curve on the gradient, but I'm sure you'll already have done those ca...

You haven't given either axle diam or wheel bore, but you could try:

Rik, I printed the fence modules 2 together and face down without support. The posts are actually halved so they that just glue side by side subsequently. In Cura, from the top: Screenshot 2020-10-03 14.20.56.jpg In Cura, from the bottom: Screenshot 2020-10-03 14.23.00.jpg No, none of them are on Th...

That tank looks very nice Trevor. I've been thinking I ought to provide watering facilities on mine but never seem to get around to it. Perhaps you've inspired me! The plinth is printing out - and each side takes 4 hours. It will be tomorrow evening before it is completed. I am planning to add the s...

DECEMBER 2020 GALLERY - LAST DAY TO DAY

Egor ( E.V.) has proposed the theme of "Autumn garden railway" for the next Gallery, thanks Egor. Plenty of scope for atmospheric pictures so lets get them rolling in please. (Quick reminder: They don't need to have been specially taken, something you have squirreled away from last year or...

Re: 3 D Printing 16mm models

I hadn't realised that PLA is biodegradable until recently, whereas ABS isn't. Are you intending to leave the footbridge outside all the time? PLA is allegedly biodegradable, which is why I switched to ABS after initial prints, but then I changed back to PLA subsequently, and I've had no problems w...

Re: Bone Works

Very nice Rik. The mortar in the ridge tiles really adds 'life' somehow. I'm with Graeme about the need for a chimney at least, low relief or otherwise, though. If I'm being picky, some flashing would finish off the joint between the brickwork at the LHS of the engine house and the adjacent roof. As...

Re: Coronavirus projects

Thanks David, looks nice and smooth to me, just the faintest hint of a 'lump'. Could you file a flat on the axle ends?

Can't say I'd like that phone controller though ( apart from not having a mobile phone anyway ) I'd much prefer having a knob to twiddle.

Re: The Potters Orchid Railway

I'm impressed with the way you've numbered the rocks and marked their relative positions. Yes I noticed that too. :D The times I've positioned things as I want them and then moved them out to replace later and no way been able to get them back as they should be! Such simple solution, just brilliant.

Re: Time to build a railway...but where?

Thanks Peter ( & Rik & Steve). As you say it shows a new and very different view of your railway and its interesting to see the relationship of various elements that we are very very familiar with at ground level. The flying and editing are superb. Having said all that, I think I prefer the ...
