Thanks Philip. To gutter or not to gutter that is the question.  If I'm going to be moving these bad boys in and out of the garden twice a year is it asking to be damaged? The end wall looks bare though.  Also wondered about a bit more 3D on the ridge tiles, most clay ones round here have a raised ...

Thanks for the feedback Jim, I might have a mess around with a solar light and see what it will do with my light strips. My wife has a fixation about solar lights in the garden, she buys dozens of the things. They don't seem to last very long in general ( about a year). I'm not sure whether the rec...

Well, to give my answers to some of your questions ( because there are about as many answers as members, to some of them): a) time - if your children are the sort of age that question (b) suggests, the you have something in the order of 60-70 YEARS to build a kit - so (a)and (b) are not problems exc...

When you say controller do you mean this? http://www.mtroniks.net/details1.asp/ProductID/733/digisound5msdt.htm That links contains a wiring diagram so check this as well. That is a sound generator, not the speed controller. I'm pretty sure he means this: http://www.mtroniks.net/details1.asp/Produc...

Could try it on one of the other servo connectors, just to see if it makes any difference? Have you got another rx and/or ESC to do temporary connections to, to try to identify which is causing the problem? I've just had another thought, which just MIGHT be a 'lightbulb' moment - I wonder if in the ...

Danny I'm hoping to get them both running by the Monmouth Show! :) You can 'ave a go if you like!   However, I've noticed a weird technical problem with either the reciever or the speed controller... When I connected it all up for a test run, it all worked beautifully! When I connected it back...

Can't stand tea, would literally rather go thirsty. Normally drink bog standard Nescafe instant ( although don't mind 'proper' coffee ) with a splash of milk and one sweetener.
I like most fizzy drinks and don't drink alcohol at all.

Re: Paints

Aaaaah, so not Indian red? It's pretty close though, right? No. Think the colour of Corris engine No 3. That's indian red - or DLG (the Soup Dragon) in the right light. I'd always been under the impression that the L&B used Indian red, but apparently that was terracotta instead!? The trouble wi...

Mike, I noticed on the picture showing the underside of the loco, the way your Planet rx is mounted. It appears that the rx is 'upside down' and the aerial runs under the bottom edge of the frame and is then fixed to the outside of the frame somehow - is that a correct interpretation? The reason I a...

wouldn't want to get my hand near the rear of that beast Many years ago, at school, we had a prop driven RC car, powered by a 1.5cc aircraft diesel engine. Flicking it over to start it one evening , it suddenly roared into life and the prop was promptly stopped by one of my fingers.....! I did keep...

If you want to use rattle cans (spray cans) Halfords or a decent paint factor. Works out cheaper than humbrol sprays. I have seen a conversion chart for rail colours from car colours but I can't for the life of me remember where. Halfords can be reasonably helpful as they can mix odd colours. Most ...
