I'm beginning to wonder whether the thin strip of garden next to the front drive is actually meant to be a garden tramway? Or perhaps a little indoor route with low-relief shop-fronts? A tram or two would look good trundling through the streets of the K&NWR... I've just found some lovely picture...

What a lovely beastie! Despite my line's WHR influence I don't think I could squeeze one of those round it, so it's very impressive that you manage indoors - have you got enough of a run (and enough stock) to make it work hard?

Glad to see the local's serving Kentish ale...

All the best,

My wife would be truly alarmed if I turned out models at the rate you do! Although I might get away with it if they were as lovely as the ones you produce, loving the W&L style vans. Surely you can't hold out for much longer against the temptation to buy a live-steamer to pull 'em all! Thanks fo...

Evening all, I think it's finished, for now at least. I've just taken Russell outside and although the light was fading fast I hope these pictures give you an idea of the end result: http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d174/cosmobonsor/Russell%20Repaint/50503178-fd15-4f31-a77d-3723e34f57bc_zps1d4ba16f...

Glad you like it! I put it back together last night and am pretty pleased with it - I'd only lost two screws too! They're the ones that hold secure the back of the cab to the footplate floor if anyone happens to know what sort I need, but it seems OK without 'em, in fact I wonder whether I never had...

Mine was already battery powered - they made both. I did have a Faller track powered diesel loco though - as far as I recall I just disconnected the wires to the track pick-ups and connected them to a bunch of batteries instead, via a DPDT switch mounted in the top. That was about 10 years ago and I...

Spud, if you're still planning to go down the 45mm route you might find Narrow Minded's thread on re-gauging a Faller railcar useful - http://gardenrails.myfreeforum.org/about7151.html

Have fun with 'em,

Photos are not working! :( Oops, sorry, experimenting with Photobucket and moved the Russell pics into another folder today without thinking of the consequences. That'll mean some of the photos on my railway construction thread have disappeared too - I'll try to sort 'em all tomorrow... This evenin...

Yes, I've found that. For years I've used Big Big running gear for my rolling stock because it runs well and used to be available very cheaply. Having looked to purchase more recently I've been horrified by the prices and will now have to revert to the usual garden railway suppliers. At least that'l...

Afternoon all, There's a little more progress to report on the Russell project. Earlier in the week I painted the boiler bands. As suggested by Laal Ratty I used a coat of primer, then orange gloss, then a strip of black Trimline, followed by satin varnish. Putting the Trimline on was quite a relief...

Re: faller railcar..

These are fantastic. But sadly I haven´t been able to find any on the second hand websites out here. You could give German eBay a shot - that's where I got mine, the prices were much better than in the UK, presumably because there were more of them out there. I've got another one somewhere which ma...

The Windmill Hill Welsh Highland saw some further progress today but the weather forecast for tomorrow is awful so I don't think the latest extension will see trains this week... Andrew. Well, I'm happy to say I was wrong about that... Today the sun shone beautifully and I spent a large part of the...

I remain a member, because even if the traffic is light the group files remain a treasure trove of photographic inspiration and ideas. Me too, for the same reason - when I said I was a member I meant that's when I was actively posting. I may post on NG Garden when my line opens - it owes a lot to t...

Did you use child labour to lay that underneath the deck? So I´m assuming that you´re going to have a solution to potential derailments ... Nope, all my own work, and I'm still aching... Got some slate and tile retaining walls in today, tracklaying at the weekend I hope. Unfortunately I find the ch...
