We are in the middle of a house move and most of my workshop is packed away in boxes. Unfortunately I have no idea when I can start production. We move up to Luton this week, then I'm off to Germany end of the month. The first apartment I picked did not become available so I had to take what I could...

Oh, sorry. Though I had already said what it was. It is a Fowler. I've wanted one of those since I first set eyes on one years ago :D

I really like the colonial style cab.

I ended up with a R/C version as that was what was in stock. I guess I can always flog the TX and RX on Ebay to get a bit of money back. Maybe only R/C is in stock because the manual ones sell out quickly?

Answering machine on at Brandbright so sent them an email. Also emailed Roundhouse. Trackshack have a Fowler in stock but the is R/C.

I was just wondering if most people prefer to buy their locos with R/C fitted these days?

A slight annoyance

It seems that most dealers only stock R/C versions of Roundhouse locos. I've got R/C equipment coming out of you-know-where as I've been in the the R/C trade. I don't want to fork out money for equipment I already have. I've sold all my vehicles now and decided I need some retail therapy to cope wit...

I think I'll make my own - all part of the "fun". Might as well learn how to get the contour right with some careful lathe filing.

Just got it confirmed that it is chassis only. I guess that gives me a chance to do some lathe work. It's been too long since I last did that. I have all the materials I need. The only item I don't enjoy making is the smokebox door.

Hmm, good question. I hadn't thought of that as I have only seen them for sale as a running chassis with boiler so assumed that's what it is. I guess I will know soon enough. I have copper tubes in various diameters and a gas burner I made earlier so its not the end of the world if it is only the ch...

I've been naughty

I sold another one of my military vehicles the other day. Looking at PPS' website I noticed that there was an Edrig chassis listed for £290. I thought they would all be long gone by now but Alan confirmed that he had left in stock. It was duly ordered and then I ordered a Baldrig XT body kit from Mi...

No, I mean a gas poker burner. What you mention is called a vaporising burner which uses alcohol as fuel. In that you would still need the room for the flame. The gas poker with the mesh around it gives off radiant heat.

Similar to these:

If you make a poker burner from fairly small diameter tube and then use some stainless steel screen to make an incandescent burner then the overall height will be fairly low and it can be placed close to the boiler.

Perhaps a gas poker burner could be used underneath the boiler?

The axles I use are 3mm. Not sure what the IP sprocket ID is.

The chassis I'm working on currently is inside framed so there would not be room for chain drive on that.

Any paint and detailing would be up to the individual.

The LGB Deutz is certainly easy to adapt for laser cutting.

Bu88er! The 4mm MDF I had ordered arrived today and it turns out it is only 3.2mm thick. I really needed 4mm for the wheels. This is a very unwelcome setback that delays completion of the flatbed kits :(

Forum Locomotive

In my thread about laser cut flatbeds which has evolved into covering a loco as well someone said it could be the forum loco. Rather than going with something I'm already working on, how about we see if we can do a "design by committee"? Post something you would like; it can be a picture o...
