I would love to see your railway but the link doesn't seem to work for me.

Tedious or not, it is well worth the effort. The base with mortar lines is most convincing and the corners work well with bricks interlocking. I'm tempted to try this method myself to make use of my extensive screwdriver collection! The thought of reaching a point where I can show show my red bottom...

The brickwork looks to be most impressive. Neat and evenly spaced. Time consuming I'll bet!
Keep up the posting and show us the finished item, please.

Well, Christmas is here and my Christmas Loco is nearing completion. I decided to go with Big Al's colour scheme, which suits the loco well. Wasp stripes will be put on to the beams and lots of grime splashed on all over! Detailing is still to follow but the main body and chassis are well under way....

Well, a white Christmas after all! This afternoon we had a heavy fall of hail. I mean really heavy... it lasted only minutes but covered the ground and turned everything white.. ./myff/1680885/IMG_1445.JPG ./myff/1680886/IMG_1444.JPG The local news showed how serious the floods are in Pembrokeshire ...

Whilst I have been watching, and even joining in this thread, it never occured to me that I have a guards van to show.
It is 32mm gauge and for garden railway use, so it should qualify..

It is from Rowland Emett's cartoon drawings, not my own invention.

About 3 hours ago the second wave of severe storms began and I have ventured out with a torch to see the same stream shown in the photo's above..... where the waterfall was the stream is now a continuous torrent with little indication there is any change in level. I have never seen it as full before...

Makes me wonder whether it was for your son's benefit or your own Jim?
We are lucky here to have two preserved railways within just a few miles from home. BTW, have you seen the 50ft inflatable snowman from the Gwili flying past your window during the storm?

That view of the garden reminds me so much of our previous house in the West Midlands. A well built and spacious Edwardian semi with average size garden. Even the substantial surrounding wall and fencing are similar and give you ample opportunity to use it for support. It seems flat and with no natu...

How's the weather where you are?

I know the weather forecast is more accurate today than ever before, but it still can be a shock to see it close up! Torrential rain and gale force winds last night left our streams overflowing. It continued right up to about 2pm this afternoon but seems to have passed now so I guess someone else is...

That's a brilliant photograph, although it makes you wonder why they would do such a thing?
I guess it is a promotional picture, possibly to show how light the loco is, possibly to show off their FLT!
Health and Safety would have kittens today.

Today's progress report..... The access doors and vents are now back on the loco. A new pair of cab doors were made to replace the originals. The reason behind this was to have a one-piece liner inside each side of the cab so that a single sheet of clear plastic can be used as windows. The window sh...

What a thing of beauty!!!!!
A real work of art and well done to you and the Arts Council for getting it together.
I would be good to see it tour to other venues to show how kinetic sculpture has come on since Rowland Emett's time.

The edging material looks so much better than the track on sticks appearance. I can see you are 'borrowing' more ground to extend the line... I guess 'she' was out at the time?

Thanks Al.... so many varieties, just like Heinz! You must have an extensive library to select from, perhaps you used them for your own build? It shows that whatever I do, somewhere there is an example I could have copied from. More work on mine today. I have been trapped in my engine shed due to th...
