Re: Cats and Dogs Railway (austrian narrow gauge)
Thanks for the kind remarks! Regarding the turntable, I've placed a bolt through the axle which keeps it in place when a locomotive rolls onto it. The turntable itself will stay manual, since I'm always around when it's in use. I like to keep things as simple as possible.. :D The best thing about th...

A first small movie from the newly (re)built railway. The leveling pays off: My little new steamloco "Bollenwees" can now pull 9 cars and has steam to spare..

Re: Cats and Dogs Railway (austrian narrow gauge)
Also dangerous for your 16mm scale passengers. If the fall didn't prove fatal they could still be eaten by the crocs  :laughing3: :laughing3: You can laugh about it, but it has happened in the everglades in 1993. There a highspeed deluxe train derailed on a bridge because a barge had hit it,...

Re: Cats and Dogs Railway (austrian narrow gauge)
I've bent it myself by bolting the two pieces together. It you bend one L shaped angle, it will curve outward, but if you bolt 2 back-to-back, they will keep straight when bending. I've made two overlength pieces and marked them every 5cm. Then bent them by hand in a workmate and a vice and checked ...

Re: My Proposed Railway
Regarding "long term railway construction" I would offer the idea of starting with one station and finish that on a short, overseable timespan. From there on, move forward to an oval, so that you can run a train and try out your made rolling stock. Then advance into the garden steadily, gr...

Re: Cats and Dogs Railway (austrian narrow gauge)
The past two days I've been working on a new bridge section in the Alpstein bridge. It lacked a section because I relocated 2 smaller sections and removed a stone pier to another spot. This left a gap of 55cm in the bridge. http://www.zeelandnet.nl/communities/data/s38/upload/images/stoomloks/b4.jpg...

Re: Cats and Dogs Railway (austrian narrow gauge)
Thanks. I always thought they were R1 and so never bothered with planning for them. A single slip would have been useful at my main station and so a double slip would give an added bonus. Must keep an eye open for a secondhand one. Rik I've tried the configuration in Anyrail (that's the progamme I ...

Re: Cats and Dogs Railway (austrian narrow gauge)
Thanks for the compliments! @Rik, it is a normal LGB double slip. They are 22,5 degrees (R1 is 30) and the length is 1,5 straight, so 45 cm. It is about R3 I guess. In my railtool for the computer I don't have any double slips in R1 from LGB, they are all this size. Mine however misses the boxes to ...

It's always a joy to see a live steamer being built. These little ruby's are ideal for kitbashing, your version is a very interesting one. Great locomotive!

Re: Cats and Dogs Railway (austrian narrow gauge)
Today (and the days before) a whole lot of building going on. The sagged wooden board is gone, it's underframe is gone and in it's place are concrete tiles and a stone wall. The triangle is on a concrete pavement slab and the bridge has been altered to better fit in the new situation, although a new...

Re: The Cobtree Line
You'll be thankful for the wisdom to keep the line level, if you run mamods or otherwise.. Your method gives a good roadbed which is easy to level out. Good job!

May be a dumb remark: 3.7 volt Li-ion is about a mobile phone battery. Would a charger for those be working?
Nice video Rik! It really is a strong puller with 4x4.. Great layout with the little bridge across the small river.

Re: Cats and Dogs Railway (austrian narrow gauge)
A video will come, but yesterday I took down the old stationboard and started rebuilding that area of the railway. Instead of wood, I made a brick wall with a wide top supporting the track and left the rest open for landscaping. The bridge will be altered a bit (grows longer) to hook up at the end o...

Re: RWLR - Robin Wood Light Railway
It looks absolutely fine this way, and in future situations you can use these parts again in a bigger or continuous layout.. When I see the rails going onto the aluminium frame however, it screems "guardrails" to me. Specially since it's high above the pavement. Just a bit of spare track t...

Nice little loco, it could do with a bit of weight I guess..
And it needs a scale fire extinguisher, you are a brave man putting "Trust Fire" batteries in a wooden locomotive..
