Re: Tralee & Dingle cattle wagon
Comparing your photos with the one on the IP site, I agree they're not quite the same, but they certainly share the same prototype. There's a lot of strapping detail on there, but if you went for a shallower relief like the IP photo, I would suggest they're ripe for a resin casting like you used for...

Again, thank you to everyone for your input.
I have ordered one of Steves' 0-6-0 chassis from this forum.
I'll try and remember to post again when I have something to report.

It's picture 3 that does it for me, the way the scene blends seamlessly in to the full size landscape.
Almost like it had been planned .

Re: Full size railway reference and picture thread
Spotted this little pair at the weekend. Something to do with that Lister casting that you just couldn't resist buying at the last show you attended. Or is that just me? 2019-09-08 11.10.11 (2).jpg 2019-09-08 11.37.16 (2).jpg 2019-09-08 11.36.44 (2).jpg 2019-09-08 11.36.58 (2).jpg I just noticed I h...

That's great Steve, if you could put me on your waiting list for an 0-6-0.
I've sent you a PM with my personal details.

Re: A bit of time in the shed
I must admit my recovery loco I built used 2 GRS based chassis (before I started making my own) and I added a heap of steel underneath it. From memory I think it came out over 12lbs! (5.6KG) 12lbs, I'd have to strenghten my track beds, the Comfrey and Geranium only has a Light Railway licen...

Re: Recomendations for a 'Recovery Loco'
Thanks for the replies. The Boulton is now off the list, I love my old SL1s and my Brunel, but build quality these days is just so variable, come on Mamod I really want to like you. An NDM6 would be perfect, but beyond the budget I had in mind, anything spent on battery locos can't be spent on a ste...

Re: Toggle Switch Wiring
Hi Rod,
Are you wiring it as a reversing switch, or to change from running to charging?
You first diagram is for the latter, the second for the former.

Recomendations for a 'Recovery Loco'
As per the subject, I'm looking for a diesel or petrol outline locomotive that will primarily be used for steamer recovery. I'll be fitting my own basic remote control utilising Arduino and Bluetooth as per Ge-Rik's work a couple of months ago. Weight, battery power, and motor power seem to be the e...

Great idea, I love the last shot, the figure just fools your brain into thinking its a 12" to the foot picture.

A rather poor shot of an early morning visitor. Chewing on the geraniums that give the line half of its name. 2019-05-31 07.46.39 (2).jpg Muntjac? Yes. I've left the wildlife camera out and this one does seem to be a fairly regular visitor. They can destroy gardens digging up bulbs etc. but I don't...

Re: The Charlwood Light Railway (CWLR)
I'll just add one thing to the toolkit mix: A glass worktop protector or glass chopping board. Currently 2 for £5 in Lidl, other cheap supermarkets are available. I find this gives a dead flat surface on which to do glue-ups, I then have a number of 1-2-3 blocks and engineering v-blocks with which t...

Re: Small layout project
Have a look at Faller-E-Train track, assuming you're going 32mm. Or The old Hornby 2-rail tinplate might be worth a look, cheap as chips (ebay has loads of it). It has small radius curves and a variety of small radius points and diamond crossings. It wouldn't last five minutes outside before rusting...

IP Engineering build its own wooden 32mm track. What do you think about it for indoor use ? https://www.ipenginnering.com/product-page/ezee-circle-track-pack https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=raMtt3kCEgo&feature=youtu.be I bought a circle of that from the Peterborough show a couple of years ago. ...
