Hi Its obvious from the photos that a lot of planning has gone into this and you've given it a lot of thought. However it has to be asked, as this is a 'cut and cover' tunnel rather than a bore tunnel, is there any reinforcing steel in the concrete roof? Just wondering because the garden may reasser...

I think the problem arises because most model rail track curves are to a constant radius and when you go from say 3' rad one way abruptly to 3' rad the other you will get a pretty savage swing and maybe buffer lock and all that malarkey. On a full size railway ( and some models) the curves are trans...

Great detailing on the coach. Did you have any problems with the kit?
Some people (myself included ) have struck some odd surprises with
these IP kits. They are good fun to make though and good value for money i reckon.

You have a 'Billy' in victorian maroon. I'm consumed with envy!

Great pics guys.

The final picture in James' post looks like an Alice in Wonderland moment. Britomart in the foreground, behind which is a giant
clockwork 0-6-0T (you can clearly see the hole for the key) and in
the background a huge Dapol/Airfix signal cabin.
Were there any mushrooms growing there?

The association of 16mm narrow guage modellers

www.16mm.org.uk

issue a quarterly magazine called 16mm today and once a year you get a handbook as well. Good value IMHO.

I was apalled to note, on my last journey on a WCML train that there were no notices on the correct and safe procedure for drinking a cup of tea and worse than that.... No sign anywhere giving advice on the correct method of breathing. This lax approach to essential health and safety practices must ...

Well done Laurence. Your parents have wisely decided that a properly laid out garden railway is an asset and an improvement on your average flower bed.

Go ahead and repay their confidence. I like their proviso that it has to be 'proper steam'.

Yes, and you can bet your bottom dollar that those who whinge about the return of the railway are the same people who want motorways and by-passes built so they can get to and from their rural idyll quicker, but that's in someone else's backyard. A narrow guage railway is an enhancement to any lands...

Can imagine a real Monty Python moment when the Legonaries
are confronted by the ticket inspector

'' Er, hold my shield a moment would you, i know my ticket is here somewhere''

At least we now know how the romans managed to conquer the known world so quick!
