How big are they?

I've tried moss transplantation too, using yoghurt amongst other products, and the biggest problem has always been birds tearing up any loose moss when scavenging for insects. Moss that has managed to 'seed' naturally seems to be more resistant to this avian assault!

I've used plastic pipe as uprights to support filcris rails. 18 months on and it's still where I put it.

It's a shame that had to go Grant, but as you said, something had to give. I think you might miss the shade it provided though?

Re: Drilling holes in metal angle

Here's something that somtime's works for me. go to a $2.00 (1 pound?) shop and buy a cheep metal ruler. Pick a spacing which will suit your purposes (every 'x' mm). Clamp a fence on your pillar drill that is spaced the distance from the bit to the inside of the angle (or edge if piece to be drille...

Delightful scratch building (or should that be modding?) This is the sort of modelling I enjoy.

Looks good Phil - I tend to use preserved wood panelling covers in roof felt As an aside, i like the grads van in the second pic - is it scratch built or is it from a kit? I'm trying to avoid wood as much as possible Mark. Our garden would generally be described as 'wet', and anything in contact wi...

Re: Platforms

Whilst I have used mortar to create platforms in a couple of places, I have one station that needs to be removable, and have found some 10mm thick flooring slate tiles which work well. At present they aren't detailed, but I''m toying with scribing in flagstone detail. I can simply pick the tiles up ...

Re: Cyclists

I think you've misunderstood Danny's post. Vehicle excise duty, as it's properly called, does not pay for the roads. It is a general tax that goes to the exchequer to be spent as the government seems fit. It is no longer a road fund tax. Any motorised vehicle is licensed to use the road; horse rider...

I'm very late to this thread Rik, and have been playing catch up on the forum this week, having spent a fortnight in the Midlands working on my daughter's house, so all I can do is echo what everyone else has said - a brilliant piece of kitbashing/remodelling. I used to make model boats, and was mor...

Re: A Light Railway for the Western Dales

Thank you to all for your kind comments. :D Philip, the advantage of playing 'catch up' is that the line has had 12 months to mature, and I am really pleased with this stretch of embanked track. Much of the planting isn't 'to scale', but that was part of the accommodation I reached with the planning...
