Re: (WH)WHR Rolling Stock
Looks excellent Andrew! Despite being MDF mr Sharples does make some good stuff! I'm making two of his Simplex locomotives at the moment and they're very easy and well thought out! I have a Slater's Ashbury being painted for a group member, I'm basing it off of yours (but using NWNGR red). FRHG are ...

Re: IP Engineering freelance carriages
We've added wooden strips along the length of the roof former, much more effective and even than the standard kit.
We've now replaced the roofs of all carriages with rolled aluminium...

Re: (WH)WHR Rolling Stock
It is a Timpdon one, but I added some plastikard strip to the sides and the doors to complete it. I also fitted Swift Sixteen bogies instead of the originals. The one issue I have with it is the height - all the pictures I've seen of the FR toastrack replica show the height as roughly the same as th...

As the weather was good, we had some trains running today: The Accucraft Baguley hauled a WHR passenger set, tailed by WHHR carriage 6: IMG-20201122-WA0018_resize_77~2.jpg Moel Tryfan also had a WHR freight - WD wagon and slate waggons. Looks good Andrew! What did you use for the handle in the end?
I got two of Phil's coal waggons, they're easy to put together but the rivetting is not my favourite part!

Re: (WH)WHR Rolling Stock
Andrew,
The mystery carriage: is it old F&WHR? Unless it's another Gladstone I cannot guess what other carriage has partitions like that from the NWNGR (the workman's and one corridor carriage didn't have doors)...
The only alternative is an FR van? Again they had mainly compartment stock.

It's been a while since I've added some WHR stock: IMG-20201031-WA0014~2_compress49.jpg Modern WHHR carriage 6 in the current livery. Was unsure at first how it would look but now I think it looks great. IMG-20200525-WA0019~2_compress61.jpg Brake van (the unnumbered one) in both liveries! Both Juras...

Ah that's very helpful thank you, I need to make the bunkers still!
Looks like it may be closer to Victorian maroon than the "Fairlie maroon".

FR double Fairlie Livingston Thompson
Hi guys, I'm looking at making a model of Livingston Thompson as is currently in the NRM. Can anyone confirm if the locomotive is painted in FR Victorian maroon or the newer, lighter shade seen on Merddin Emery's? Some pictures of its visit to the FR in the last decade seem to show it's a different ...

Re: (WH)WHR Rolling Stock
The FR beer waggon is a replica of a single plank "general purpose" waggon from the old FR. Originally when the replica was built it was used a lot for carrying the Purple Moose ale in casks for Spooner's; now it's gone back to a general purpose demonstrator waggon.

I'm almost certain that Van 5 was fully glazed in the obs section. Festipedia states that it was a composite; I imagine the obs section was first, similar to the glazed porthole bug boxes.

Hi Andrew, Seems the weight is the main issue then, otherwise it would run well would it. :?: Would a flat wagon with really small wheels help, then you could possible add some weight with a heavy load like slate or even a hollow box with some led in it.... Yep - When running as a three w...

Re: (WH)WHR Rolling Stock
I think it's a good way to showcase different methods of construction and finish for the same piece of stock. For example, Andrew and myself both have FR van 10/2 (not sure what it's called now) and carriage 23. Andrews is finished as per the 20's whereas mine are "as preserved" in order t...
