Hi Sylvian Tennant,
I think your brake van is one of the best I've seen, I'm impressed and not a little envious! Well done on such a high quality rebuild, it's something you should be very proud of. The livery really suits it too.

Re: Point rodding and concrete track
Hi Ensign Elliott, Welcome to the forum. Regarding check rails, my only comment above what's already been said would be to make sure you provide an adequate flangeway, particularly if it's on a curve. I think you might be struggling with signal wires. Anything you do in 16mm will lack the weight and...

Hi David,
I'm really impressed with the build. The jointing method is very good! I'm really looking forward to the rest of the build.

Re: Time to build a railway...but where?
Hi Peter, I love all your builds but I have to say that I think this and the horse box together are probably my favourite. The Brougham is beautifully finished and a work of art in its own right. I think the wagon it sits on has worked out particularly well too. I love the way you have arranged the ...

It really is superb Peter. What an excellent chap Mr Irwin is too. The wagon really is 'made for the job'.
Marshalled that way round no one accuse you of putting the cart before the horse - apologies, but I just couldn't resist!

Gents, Thanks for the further sympathy and advice. They are most welcome! Pippindoo, Thanks for the link, it is restricted to registered users - but registering is 'free and easy' (as they say), so I have! The link looks very interesting and is well deserving of much closer study. I'm think there ar...

Re: Trackplans
This topic is a great idea - far better than my computer drawing skills! This is definitely not to scale and only indicative of the layout and alignment. This is the Charnwood Forest Light Railway. Space constraints have required me to take liberties with the order of the stations, resulting in Anst...

Re: The Charnwood Forest Light Railway
Thanks for the commiserations chaps. You know what they say, 'a trouble shared is a trouble halved'. I think my problem is a combination of things, including those you have mentioned. I don't think I fully understood the properties of the materials I was using either and they weren't widely tested i...

Re: The Charnwood Forest Light Railway
Greetings dear readers, Having picked up a new loco just over a week ago I was very keen to give her a try. It was something I've been after for ages, the final one of the pair that will be the CFLR's loco fleet. I'm now working on an excuse to keep by rebodied Edrig (complete with tender) and Excel...

Re: Time to build a railway...but where?
Hi Peter, That's a really important point and most dramatically made. One thing I always check when looking at kits is the overall height. I'm sure some people would find character in a variety of stock heights and the effect it creates, personally I prefer stock that looks like it was all built to ...

Re: Time to build a railway...but where?
Hello Peter, That's yet another superb vehicle. The Sixteen Mills kits appear to be lovely vehicles. Based on your description of the builds I'm tempted. I'm not sure I could make quite such a good job but they look like they would be a pleasure to put together in themselves. Thanks for the descript...

Re: List of Suppliers
That's better than a good start - it's pretty much job done! Thanks for putting in all that effort. Err, don't think its job done though Andrew. There are no contact details and most of the entries are duplicated and require editing, plus I think some do no longer exist. Hi Philip, You're right, fo...

Wow Steve, That's better than a good start - it's pretty much job done! Thanks for putting in all that effort. Not being a member I never thought about the 16mm site. Philip, I don't have access to the Suppliers board. when I click on it it tells me I don't have permission to view or post, am I doin...

List of Suppliers
Hello all, Whilst looking for a suitable vehicle for my momentum van project recently I was searching the 'interweb' for suitable candidates. Remembering all the various suppliers we have available to us is no small feat, made worse by the fact that my memory isn't good at the best of times! It led ...

What a great thread with a fine looking outcome. It's the sort of thread which I'm sure people will refer back to. Rik Spot on Rik. I've no doubt I shall be referring back it from time to time in the future. :study: Just the sort of thing that makes this site such a useful resource. :D CFLR Andrew

Re: Lyn >> Schull & Skibbereen Erin(ish)
That looks superb Rik. I'm afraid I know less than nothing about 3D printing so the technical details are lost on me but the loco has some very nice lines to it. I've never particularly been a 'loco' man, but I do have a 'thing' about 0-4-4 tank engines, I've never seen one yet that doesn't please m...
