Hi Andrew, That sounds like a good plan for fairly immediate effect, it should look good. You've obviously put some thought into the medium term too. This approach gives you a pleasing result whilst you look around and decide if you want to try something different in the longer term or stick with wh...

I think this highlights just how good having everything in a uniform company livery can be. I know it's nice to have variety and that some liveries suit some loco's better than others but for maximum reality it's nice to see so,me uniformity. Of course, this is the ultimate in personal preference an...

Hi, Andy and Keith makes some interesting comments from very different (but not necessarily opposite) view points. On reading Andy's first post my reaction was 'Yes, spot on, just what I've been thinking!'. But after reading Keith's views I have to say he makes some convincing and worthwhile argumen...

I've been and fetched my specs and I can now see my mistake! I think it is the care you take over things like vehicle overhang and platform position which make all the difference Matt. They might seem over the top on face value but your pictures show that going the extra mile has worthwhile results....

That's looking really good Matt. Have you any idea of the grading size of the stone? Your track alignment looks like you've spent the time and effort to get it right; no kinks and irregularities. Well done on some professional workmanship. The Ragleth looks really good making it's way through the la...

That's great Andy. What an excellent arrangement to maximise length of run. You've laid it out very well, the journey around the line shows an ever changing view without giving the impression of passing the same scene twice. This gives me further inspiration to develop my own design. Many thanks, An...

Wow Peter, that would be an interesting talking point. It would mean making your own frame though. I'll put good money on there being nothing suitable available commercially. The Midland Railway Co were sometime users of this system. They used a simple weighted lever (not dissimilar to the weighted ...

I remember your cottages well Brian. You must have been one of the first to move in after they were restored. It's a shame the Newlands Inn is in such a state, I remember some very nice lunch time ham salad cobs consumed in there when I was track patrolling (and nipping into a pub for lunch wasn't a...

I never knew that Brian! I had assumed they only built standard gauge stuff. I ought to be able to remember the works but I can't. Do you know how big it was or the dates between which it was in production? The abutments of the bridge over the Erewash Valley line which led to the works (and beyond!)...

The Modratec frames certainly look robust enough to do the job and durable enough to live outside. I was hoping for something with working catch handles though; my home made points won't have over centre springs so I'll be relying upon the lever (via the rodding) to hold the blades against the stock...

This is all really useful stuff guys. Although I've been in modelling for years all this RC stuff is brand new to me and a total mystery. Undaunted by that I've bought two secondhand manual loco's (because they were the right price - i.e. I could afford them!) with the intention of fitting RC. The i...

Lever Frames
I wondered where to post this for best. It's not really a project, nor is it an item of rolling stock and its certainly not scenery! So, here's where I thought I'd put it. Does anyone know of any manufacturers of mechanical lever frames, either in kit form or built up, suitable for use outdoors? I'm...
