Sanding sealer
Hi all.
I have some ex SAR waggon kits that I am putting together. They are made from MDF so what sanding sealer do members reccomend before painting?
David.

Re: Glue
Hi.
Yep Glue n Glaze works for me. I always paint my wooden coaches before glazing so I am gluing to painted wood.
Dries invisible. (Except where I put too much on )

Re: IP wagon scale
Hi. If you can get yourself a copy of 'Wheelers Day' published by the Welsh Highland Heritage Group you will see some superb shots of WHR goods stock between pages 46 - 50 taken in situ in 1935 including brake van number 2. No sizes I'm afraid though. I am currently in the process of sorting out pla...

Re: Couplings
Hi Rik. I have fitted Slater's couplings to all my home built WHR bogie stock. They are not quite prototypical but close enough for me. They are middling in the price range at £10 for two that you put together yourself from brass castings. Just a hack saw, file and small hammer needed. They are spru...

Re: IP wagon scale
Hi.
I draw out my own plans for making my NWNG stock. One method I use is to find a photo of an end view. Using the rail gauge as 2 foot I can work out the width and height and other details. From a side view photo, if I know the height I can work out the length and window and door dimensions etc.

I buy a newspaper to read in the day and curl up in a chair with this forum in the evening. Three guesses which gives me the most pleasure. The newspapers can be so depressing.
Moderators keep up the good work and members keep the posts coming.

Re: Ffestiniog Turntable
A bit of text from 'Narrow Gauge Rails to Portmadoc, and a couple of photos. One from Boyd and a screenshot from the Drivers Eye View series of DVDs issued by the FR. Pics removed for copyright reasons. I wonder if that is the garage. It looks fairly old. Apparently the cottage behind the garage is ...

Ffestiniog Turntable
Hi all. I have started a new topic with this. "On the basis of "many a good idea said in jest" what you need is a small wagon type turntable for the car Andy." (LNR) Behind the old engine shed at Boston Lodge, in the garden of what once was a cottage owned by the FR, is/was the o...
