I had a few pages to catch up on here - what a fantastic beast that is! Congratulations Peter!
Looking forward to photos/video of it at the head of a long train come the spring...

Re: The (Windmill Hill) Welsh Highland Railway
Interested to hear about the Kerr Stuart. I've requested the book about KS narrow gauge diesels as my birthday present and am planning to find something in it to go with a soundcard I bought off eBay. These days, my loco builds seem more related to what bargains I find on eBay. Ooh, I reckon a KS w...

Re: Daisy, Daisy...
Hello again! The Regner project made a decent step forward over the Christmas Holidays with the completion (well, nearly) of the lining: Lined Daisy 1.jpg Lined Daisy 2.jpg Lined Daisy 3.jpg It doesn't bear close inspection, but (to my eye anyway!) it looks very acceptable from a usual viewing dista...

Re: The (Windmill Hill) Welsh Highland Railway
Afternoon all! Firstly, apologies for my absence of late. Life's been busy, but the Christmas break has seen me find some time for my hobby - including my traditional New Year's Day run. I usually opt for steam power at New Year but, for various reasons, my little RH "Hercules" was the onl...

Re: Building Tan-y-Bwlch Water Tower
That's looking very good indeed! The stonework looks excellent.
I'll be watching the detail go on with interest. It might even inspire me to have a go - after 35 years of garden railway-ing my poor locos STILL can't get a drink...

I think you might be over-estimating my expertise here chaps, but I'll gladly give it a try - as I say, it might take a few weeks... In the meantime, I got started using Ian Stock's article on the old Garden Railway Realism wiki:[http://gardenrailwayrealism.pbworks.com/w/page/13270143/Lining%20locom...

Re: Time to build a railway...but where?
When I drew up this wagon for Andrew, he gave me the chassis dims, which from memory he measured from another wagon, so are probably not accurate for this particular vehicle. However the footprint of my wagon is 118 x 64mm ie 7ft4 1/2" x 4ft 0" My body measures at 32.55mm but I don't have...

Re: Daisy, Daisy...
Hi all, A little more progress on this project (if not the loco itself) in that I've been having some trial goes at lining on some off-cuts sprayed with the same paint - in the rain, as is evident from the white spots! Green 4.jpg Not perfect, but I got better each time, so I think - as longs as I'm...

Re: Time to build a railway...but where?
I think those long straight handbrakes, and the boxy design give these wagons a surprisingly modern look. I ended up building three, because Philip sent me his prototype as well as the two wagons I'd planned - I don't know how many the FR had originally, but there are only two now! It's lovely to se...

Re: Daisy, Daisy...
I have never tried resin prints with heat, I guess it depends on how hot the boiler actually gets as resin to the best of my knowledge, once cured is pretty resistant to heat, from memory around 250 degrees, and then they burn more than melt. Ah, I never was much good at physics! I assumed the prop...

Re: Daisy, Daisy...
I was uncertain about the green to begin with but the black brings it to life. Thanks! I realised this morning that it's similar to Southern malachite green - perhaps I should have lined in yellow and added "sunshine" lettering?! I've just spent an hour or so making a template for the end...

Re: Daisy, Daisy...
Tidy. Lining the flywheel is a very nice touch. Thank you! The flywheel was actually the easiest bit, because that little lip gave me a smooth continuous line to follow... I prefer the spoked flywheels on the "Vincent" locos, but am quite glad I don't have one or I might have felt obliged...
