Wibbly wobbly roof
I have now made three models of an early version of the Southwold Railway Cleminson coaches. The first one is now a couple of years old. Its roof was made from five 3D printed sections glued together. After fixing the passengers inside, I decided to glue down the roof using prototypical arched batte...

Re: Cheapo diesel sound card
Yup, a standard 603c will work straight out the box using pin 1 onto the white signal wire of the soundcard. Obviously with all negatives and positives attached  If for some bizarre reason it doesn't then you can reprogramme using 2,1,1,1,1 I thought P1 on a standard MR603 gave forward lig...

Re: Gmeinder & Co loco
Wow. That is a sorry spectacle. You did amazingly well on those dimensions, Philip. My model is more of a compromise as I had to make it fit the HGLW chassis and cab.

Re: British businesses who won't sell to Canada
Not sure if it's their reason, but when I was running RC Trains, I stopped selling to distant non EU countries basically because Sod's Law applied in a couple of cases and their kit developed faults. Annoying as I had very few returns overall. I had to cover their return postage costs and also the c...

Re: Cheapo diesel sound card
Can you borrow a prog 4 to programme it with, or borrow a different TX, like a TX20? I have a Prog4 but it no longer works with the serial cables/Coolterm.. it's all obsolete. Nobody I know within half a days journey to borrow from ( I think you are about the nearest! ) unfortunately and it'...

Re: Cheapo diesel sound card
I would love to know how in really simple layman's talk.. how to fit a sound card to a battery loco, but wiring is a little bit confusing for me at times... :thumbright: Hi Rod The MyLocoSound card is dead easy to fit. Two wires to the battery (via the loco's on off switch), two wires to the ...

Moves to two flashes... input 2, which it repeats, so ACCEPT it Moves to three flashes... input 1, continues with three flashes, input 1 again, continues with three, then repeat ad inf...

Re: Cheapo diesel sound card
I see you've already been advised - yes, it needs to follow Ch1.
Reprogramming should be easy enough if you have a tx20. Possible with a tx22, but trickier.

Re: Baseboard Construction
Yes, I agree with Philip. These days it's hard to get good quality weatherproof ply - basically, you get what you pay for! I've used tanalised fence rails and they have lasted years (not quite as long as your ply). Some cheaper untreated timber I used to fill a couple of gaps have very quickly rotte...

Re: Downloading Fusion 360
Well, I've managed to download and install Fusion. I've had a quick look at it and tried to draw something without referring to the video or online guides, but not got very far (unlike Tinkercad which is fairly intuitive in the early stages). I'm willing to give it a good try. Hopefully, it'll start...

Re: Using TinkerCAD to produce drawings for 3-D Printing
This thread got sidetracked into a discussion about Fusion 360 and how it compares with TinkerCAD. I've now moved that discussion to a new thread called - TinkerCad v Fusion - https://gardenrails.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=14765 No posts have been deleted or altered. The whole discussion has simply b...

Re: Using TinkerCAD to produce drawings for 3-D Printing
OK. Tinkercad might be clunky, but it does practically every job I ask of it. If I want to align a shape to something in a group, I ungroup it, align it and regroup. Not too arduous. I've produced a fair number of very acceptable models with its basic tools. So, for the moment, why should I bother s...

Baffling instructions
Over the years, I've come across quite a few instruction leaflets containing baffling, amusing or sometimes incomprehensible guidance This set of guidance for newly acquired wire strippers made me smile - especially " If possible, always pull. ont push, to prevent a fall ". And, as a forme...

Re: Using TinkerCAD to produce drawings for 3-D Printing
This is where Tinkercad fails. Once you start to build complex models the lack of precision and history makes life frustrating and difficult. Anything that uses a torus is a nightmare as it's shape varies with size. No ability to lock sizes makes it too easy to accidentally resize things if you tou...

Re: Loco wheels (and other issues) 7/8th scale
I've used Essel Engineering before now and he (Steve, I think), was happy to produce some steel disc wheels to my spec. He might be able and willing to help.
