Hello,
I had similar problems with my MSS loco, there are some suggestions in this thread. https://gardenrails.org/viewtopic.php?f=44&t=13056
The performance even after numerous upgrades is still not great, I might strip it down again and try cleaning out the boiler.

Re: Gauge One Motive Power
Safe to say I'm happy with this one! Just need to build a second 33/2, design the 73 and then the fun begins, Hastings Unit....... After that I'll definitely need a break after doing nothing but gauge one for months on end! Nearly run out of room which helps keep things under control! I saw this go...

Fireless locos are a totally new concept to me, how interesting! I guess they make sense in many industrial scenarios.

Re: Yatton Models - Vale of Ffestiniog
Both bodies masked up and ready for painting. IMG_1687.jpeg I've now finished one side, looking at photos of the locomotive from above it seems the roof is part green part silver - so I've tried to replicate that. I've almost finished the other side now too. I'm waiting on nameplates as well as find...

Re: Any GMES members around?
You called? Best thing you can do to join at the moment is drop the Garden Railways Rep (a lovely person called James) on gmes16mm 'at' gmes.org.uk Then he'll be able to best advise what to do. That's how I first made contact followed by a visit to the club to look around and get the paperwork. You...

They look amazing! The craftsmanship is superb. Please share a video of them in action when you get them out in the sunshine for testing!

Re: Yatton Models - Vale of Ffestiniog
Hi George. When you fit the electrics are you going for the full forward/reverse lighting setup. It entails a lot of wiring and led fitting but the effort is well rewarded. I used the electronics supplied by Yatton including the sound card option. If you get into difficulty i found John at Yatton t...

Re: Yatton Models - Vale of Ffestiniog
With some effort managed to get the roofs fitted and primed. The chassis painting is finished bar lacquer. Still a little tidying up on the bodies required before painting (which I'm not looking forward to!) then I can fit the electrics! Shame I don't have a layout to test this on... IMG_1656.jpeg I...

I've now completed the bogies and they're ready to be fitted to the chassis once I've finished painting it.

Re: Yatton Models - Vale of Ffestiniog
I managed to finish the bogies so can now continue with fitting the gear box and motors. I decided to use a semi gloss finish, aiming for a ‘factory fresh’ finish. The 3D printed parts have come out ok after a bit of filler, several coats of primer and a couple of top coats. A0E8DB9A-3F11-46CB-8DF2-...

Re: Yatton Models - Vale of Ffestiniog
I managed to find a break in the rain over the weekend and made a start on painting the cab ends. The first coat has highlighted some gaps that will require more filler, it’ll take a few more coats of primer to get a decent finish I think. Any GMES members around?
Hello!
I was wondering if there were any Guildford Model
Engineering Society members on the board. I’m interested in joining but not sure the best way to go about it!

Re: Yatton Models - Vale of Ffestiniog
Be careful when using Halford's cap coulors as a guide to colour matching - they no longer, like the old fully painted caps, directly represent the actual colour but might be described as a bit "generic" instead. Also take them outside into the daylight, even given the noted limitations. ...

Re: Yatton Models - Vale of Ffestiniog
Thanks Tony! I took a trip to Halfords earlier and found what I thought was a good match Dark - Vauxhall pine green Light - Vauxhall Reed green 1430DA3A-7E22-4690-AC9C-8B19D0C38050.jpeg Looking at railmatch colours the match looks good. 93835E14-ACB5-4A37-AE30-8518B970424E.jpeg Now I’m really torn!

Re: Yatton Models - Vale of Ffestiniog
I’m having a bit of a dilemma with paint choices. I had previously ordered some samples of RAL 6020 and RAL 6021, which seemed to be the closest standard colours I could find. Looking at photos online it seems a reasonable match but struggling to find much information of what the colours actually sh...

Re: Yatton Models - Vale of Ffestiniog
Today I found some time to get the bogies and chassis primed. After the first coat extensive additional filling was required. I’m quite happy with the finish now. I could tidy up further but I have to keep reminding myself no one will generally be looking at it only a few cm away! 14857326-ECF6-4E01...
