An England in 16mm would be like a Mamod in a way and full of charm. Why not try hard for something. Or a Double Fairlie would be something. I know Taliesin was close but the engineering design would be quite an achievement. Go for gold I say.

Oil consumption is good, and normal. On the R/C glitching: Check the servos are not fluttering with dirty pots. They should be steady waiting for command. As it is only the later area of the run, it seems like Rx problems. Is the switch somewhere damp too? Often shops install the R/C equipment and i...

Phew! I like flying models but not the steam powered ones!

I have an area that is about 5ft high and soldered up Peco track rail to form fencing. I'm glad I did. Mind you I'm often surprised how often it does not come off.

I do like the back of the loco by the way. Very nice indeed.

The playmobile loco is very good loco and can be detailed up to look real. BUT the other LGB 'first steam loco' runs way too fast and with no speed control is very bad. watch the batteries jumping out inside when tipped up. The controller has to be right over the cab to work and therefore it needs c...

Who has an indoor test line?

I had shelving in the garage and moved it all up one, putting a 32mm loop in the garage as a test track. Now the wet and winter are upon us, it is good to steam up inside. Because my free time is late in the evening, I've used it more than I thought I would. It keeps the hobby bobbing along nicely. ...

I used plastic bumper primer, a car product. Semi matt paints last longer than matt as matt get washed away slightly. I reckon 3 years and its time for a quick touch up. I did hear of a guy who used exterior masonry paints but I have no experience of this at all so I'm not sure. Sunlight and frost a...

Thanks for the kind comments. It's just a test track really. We have an out door line but I often find I'm in the modelling mood late evening, when it is dark. Also if the weather is horrible I can still steam up. I was in the garage looking at the paint pots on shelf's and thought, 'move these up a...

Believe it or not we used a Joysway 2.4gh radio from a model yacht. Small components and flat large phone style TX. It was a throw out from the model boat club. My son is 11 and built 95% of it with me guiding and advising. Tiring to do but he enjoyed it. Took 4 days
