Roundhouse Hackworth Valve Gear
Does anyone have any experience using this? I would like to know their thoughts on it; is it a worthwhile investment? Also from pictures it seems like it is tooled for specific locomotives... I have seen a couple of Berties with HW gear but no Millies (for example). Is it possible to fit it to a Mil...

Radio Control for different scales
Out of curiosity, is it possible to have radio control for the larger scales and gauges, say 3.5" and 5" gauge (either modelling standard or narrow gauge)? My thoughts are that it is virtually unheard of but surely if you have large enough servos, it is entirely possible... EDIT: Just thou...

At last I have created a discussion that hasn't broken down into great confusion!! This is a momentous occasion for me :D This is all great information here guys! Thanks a lot! The reason I asked is because any locos I have come across in the 15mm or 16mm scale seem to have either 0-4-0 inside cylin...

Narrow gauge.DVT Dweller:95960 wrote:Are we talking standard guage or narrow gauge here?
There are, as you said, examples of metre-gauge and larger locos but I was wondering if it were possible to recreate in 16mm or even 15mm scale.
EDIT: I was thinking 45mm gauge would be a lot easier due to the extra space.

Inside Cylinders
I am curious: is there an example of anyone attempting to create a locomotive with inside cylinders (à la LMS Jinty, for example) in 16 or 15mm scale, without resorting to using a motor with oscillating cylinders?

Very much looking forward to seeing this new loco develop. A good price for beginners like me... I may have found my first buy when I can gather some disposable wealth! I am thinking a conversion into a Black Hawthorn industrial saddle tank may be in order :-) Is there any news on a 45mm gauge versi...

Yatton Model Engineering
In the latest edition of Garden Rail magazine there was an article concerning this company and after perusing their website, I like what I see. Does anyone have any experience with this company's kits? The pictures look promising but are the actual products worth the price tag? Are they easy to cons...

Questions are never stupid. Only answers can be. Well, you say that, but if I hadn't neglected to mention all of this in the question in the first place... :P It was late at night and I was in a lot of pain and was unable to concentrate properly. It is my fault entirely. Despite that, I thank you f...

I really don't think I thought this question through at all... Now I've had these questions and comments plus a night's sleep under my belt, I realise that I am a moron and that if I had thought about it a bit more I would have the answer I was looking for. Sorry about this guys, I really do need to...
