Re: 3 D Printing 16mm models

My latest effort.... Drawn in TinkerCAD and printed off. IMG_1246.JPG . IMG_1245.JPG . IMG_1244.JPG . The roof (and floor) are plasticard as it seemed daft to 3D print large expanses of undetailed sheet plastic. The wheels are Lilliput metal spoked as I'm not entirely sure about the efficacy of 3D p...

Excellent work, Rod. I especially like the way you've done the brickwork. Very realistic!

Re: (Dennis) Sad News

Please pass on my condolences to Julie. I only met Dennis once, but he struck me as a fine character with a great sense of humour. I'm sure he'll be greatly missed by all his friends and particularly, of course, by Julie.

Re: TVT - Mihirung, the Demon Duck

Just read the description in full detail. A masterclass in scratchbuilding. I really enjoyed reading about the methodical way you solved each of the constructional issues as they arose. Interesting to hear about the difference between the polulu and mfa gearbox motors and the properties of the bevel...

Online shopping for books

Now we are about to enter another lockdown in the run up to Christmas, can I draw your attention to hive.co.uk . Unlike some other well known online booksellers, they are a UK company, paying UK taxes and every time you buy a book from them they donate part of their profit to a local bookshop of you...

That is some detailing for Tinkercad, wow, I am impressed!
Thanks Steve. I'm only scratching the surface of what's achievable. You only have to look at the gallery to see what some people have produced. For example ....

Great looking loco, Steve - after all those shenanigans! Did you use sketchup? Rik Hi Rik. Glad you eventually got to view the pictures. I used Tinkercad for all the CAD work, takes some doing and is quite restrictive, but very very easy to use compared to any of the proper CAD programs. :D Yay! Th...

Re: Life in the old dog yet.

My dad drifted from one semi-skilled job to another. At one time, he worked at Stansted Aerodrome (as it was then) in the workshops. I can remember him talking about plunging mechanical bits and pieces with his sleeves rolled-up into a large tank of carbon tetra-chloride to de-grease them. Those wer...

Re: Time to build a railway...but where?

A quirky selection of wagons, Peter. That sheep wagon reminds me of the wagons which were supposedly once used to transport circus animals around. I could just imagine a tiger in there peering out through the bars....

Re: Upgraded movie

I really like your miniature trees. They look spot on for scale! The clickety clack of the stock on the lower track is really good. Have you filed extra wide track joints? An interesting collection of added sound effects, though I think the farmer should take that duck to the vet - definitely eaten ...

Also, the pictures don't show up properly here either. I think its because the forum is using HTTPS and the pictures are served without HTTPS, and Chrome doesn't like that for security reasons. Your image host doesn't seem to support HTTPS. Just discovered in Chrome on my tablet that if I hold my f...
