Re: Suggestions please: removable ground-level section
I didn't add check rails, just those integral wth the points. The crossing is scratch built with minimal check rails. Track is loose laid on concrete, then flooded with mortar, and flangeways carved out while still "green". The edges do gradually erode. Adding check rails to Peco track... ...

Re: Bogies
Sorry, a bit slow chipping in, been busy in the works.
Yes, Peter, that's correct.
I'm wondering now if something from IP Eng. may be adaptable.

Re: Suggestions please: removable ground-level section
Here's my contribution. I'm not telling anyone how to do it, but what I did and what works for me:- The patio step is the main access for washing line (crucial!) and steam-up meetings etc. Yes, it was raining thi...

Re: Bogies
Yes, Rod, Pretty much the same. Of course, it was some years back. Bought it in 2003 & finally sold it about 2010. I seem to remember it was reasonably stable, just ground to a halt on my curves. I felt it would benefit from a 4w power bogie at the rear, but couldn't locate anything suitable. Ju...

Re: Bogies
Rod, This looks like a Brandbright railcar? If so, I had one for a while, and it displayed all the troubles you mention. The problem is, it's simply too long for our typically sharp curves. I moved the battery box further back, and then refitted the bogie pivot under the front bulkhead. [attachment=...

Re: Any tips for steaming Ogwen?
Quite nicely behaved, Chris.
I've still not visited Ian's line.
Stuart's Ogwen is the earlier Roger Marsh version, so the gas burner comments are not entirely valid.

Re: Any tips for steaming Ogwen?
Hi Guys, Echo everything said so far. My MH Ogwen is an absolute pig to light up. Having lit, she runs like a Swiss watch, but should the gas blow out, a pig to re light. Problems were eased by making a "fire iron" from a U shape of brass with an angled handle. I use this to choke the air ...

It appears my problem with pics was down to Firefox.
Using Chrome, it works.

Re: NEW FWLR LINE
OK, Rod,
I guess you're proposing to reverse out of your dead-end station, past the junction to the "Limit of Shunt" and then forward round the turnout.
It sounds like you need to adopt DHR practice and run back & forth up their zig-zags.

Re: NEW FWLR LINE
Rod,
I think you mean push-pull? Auto-train in GWR speak.
You'll need a driving trailer.
Ffestiniog ran them for a while, using a diesel loco.

I have a response from Mike:-
Hello Rob.
Yes I’ve had problems with my ISP and the website has been lost. Need to recreate it.
My business email is sales
(insert the curly chr)
acmesteam.co.uk
I don’t mind you handing this out.

Re: ACME Engineering Sound systems
AFAIK, Mike is still trading.
I bought a pressure gauge from him in December (2018!).
He was having problems with the website then, and it appears he still is.
I've sent a direct eMail, so we'll wait for a response.

Re: Merlin Spares
Gareth, Your description sounds like a "banjo" bolt. Merlin are long defunct, so parts are unavailable. A model tool/screw supplier may be able to help, but you would need to know the size & thread pitch etc. Alternatively a Merlin owner may have some better suggestions. Must say, ther...
