If you can't make it, here is a YouTube video of the entire circuit. Takes all of a minute travelling very slowly.

Re: The Circle Line
The latest addition to the Circle Line is a pair of crossing gates. IMG_20190805_171520.jpg They were sourced from Wickes, the gates were on special offer at £22 each. The observant among you might spot a triceratops lurking under the fern on the left. And a special prize if you can see two fairys s...

That's quite a bit of work you're putting in there on behalf of the hobby. Thank you.

Very interesting Tom. It sounds like you are learning a lot on the go.
Re: Chains
Sorry Tom, my eyesight failed to spot the difference between the ladder chain on the left and roller chain on the right.

Re: Railway Modeller - Brockhampton & Umbridge
Well put Don. This whole area of carbon footprint and climate change is a minefield of contradictory advice from vested interests. We should all do our bit as we see fit or are able to, but it's probably best to leave the whys and wherefores to another forum so we can focus on garden railways.

Re: Derogatory terms
Agreed, Ian. As for "train set" although inaccurate in most cases it is not a problem for me either. My grandson always asks "can we play with your train set?" when referring to my 5" gauge railway! :) And anyway I am having fun so if someone wants to make what they think ar...

Re: 1:6 scale GWR Signal
Thanks Andrew. Don't think I've got room for a signalbox but I have toyed with the idea of a ground frame when the point and siding are installed.

Most impressive. Simple (if you have mastered 3D printing) and very effective.

Re: 1:6 scale GWR Signal
Finished painting and they are now in place. My grandson now wants to be a signalman! IMG_20190729_111950.jpg The space behind the signal in the full sun is reserved for a siding. IMG_20190729_112018.jpg I also made a matching fixed distant signal: IMG_20190729_112041.jpg I wasn't sure if they had y...

Re: The Ridgemont Hills Light Railway
You have an amazing view from your 'garden' (more like a field!) You could get a ride on railway round all that! I agree. You could get some nice gentle curves for a 5" or 7 1/4" railway in there with great views and opportunities for embankments and cuttings. Go on, you know you want to....

Re: 1:6 scale GWR Signal
Yes Peter, correct, if you connect the rod to the spectacle side and leave the other end as is, that would work prototypically. I didn't do that because it would have meant the rod crossing in front of the signal which spoiled the appearance greatly. On the prototype no "push" is required ...

Re: The Circle Line
If you are building a 5 inch gauge line you may find this blog interesting http://www.timpdon.co.uk/timpdon/miniature.htm Don Thanks Don. That story is almost identical to mine except my layout is even smaller than his. Same motivation, same suppliers, and he had to move a shed as well. Small world...
