Re: RWLR - Robin Wood Light Railway

I enjoyed seeing your Silver Lady Tom. I must admit to a little jealousy as I don't have anywhere to run my Lady Anne at the moment. I'd love to be able to pop into the garden and run her when we get lovely weather such as we have had letely.

Re: My Proposed Railway

Great looking crest, Ian. Lovely little railway, the West Lancs. Must pop over there again sometime. Be interested to see how it's developed since my last visit in 2012 - http://ngruk.blogspot.co.uk/2012/10/west-lancashire-light-railway.html Rik Rik, Apologies for not replying to this. Whilst I am ...

Re: Beeston Market Station forecourt

Personally I think nature is the best backscene. There was a wheelbarrow in the rear of one picture but was only after several passes. I think train eyes are adept at seeing the railway and accompanying surroundings first and backdrop later. That said I limit the number of shots in my work shop are...

That's impressive. I have considered hand building my own turnouts, but not sure I have the skill or tools.

Re: A simple change has made such a difference

Well done. I think anything that keeps the trains running is a good idea.

I need a new man cave (shed). I might make sure it gets built so as to have trains running in and out. It will also give me an excuse to extend at a later date. Lol.

Re: (WH)WHR Rolling Stock

I've already broken my own "finish what I've started" rule by embarking on a new rolling stock project. In theory anything new should be queuing up behind finishing a tender for my Regner loco and completing a Hudson toastrack carriage (possibly started nearly ten years ago!) but I got an...

Re: Andrew and the Chocolate Factory

A brilliant idea, and well executed so far. I help operate layouts at the West Lancs Teddy Bears picnic and I load up open wagons with sweets for the kids. I know all this doesn't appeal to the "serious" enthusiasts, but the children are the future of our hobby so we should encourage them....

Re: Lady Anne Kit Build

What if I threw in an oily rag? I've got loads of my own oily rags. thanks. For the moment, I'm happy just gradually reducing the shiny bits, wheels, handrails, dome, boiler bands etc. My goods stock is matt, coaches are satin, and my solitary locomotive is glossy! I may one day pluck up cour...

She's lovely. I love the Lady Anne locomotives. Your coal fired Riverdale must be, for me, the ultimate. Black too. ATM that's my preferred colour.

Could you bring yourself to join the mucky crew club? https://gardenrails.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=6823 Tom, I have to admit, no, I can't. I have no idea why not. When I did OO Everything I did was weathered, even if only very lightly. For some reason I can't bring myself to do it in 16mm...

... I've never come across one where the back of the buffer beams are painted red ... Amen to that! Add unpainted shiny wheels to the list too. Haha yeah bufferbeams was a school boy error, will be painting backs black when I next do some paint 😂 I'd never really thought of the wheels but you're ri...

Re: Lady Anne Kit Build

Hi Jack. I have a Lady Anne. Mine was factory built. I love it. Mine happens to be in Maroon, but as it's a popular colour I've seen lots in different colours. It seems to suit them all! In all honesty I'd love another, but that would give me a dilema. I like black too so would it be black, stick wi...

Re: CRANE FOR FWLR

If the jib is too long to fit on your proposed wagon body, Perhaps a single bolster wagon and a single plank wagon? The single plank wagon could be filled with packing pieces tools re-railing ramp etc? With your skills you could scratch build them? A brake van or small coach with a brake compartmen...

Ian I do have another wagon body to convert to a runner wagon, but it may be a bit of a challenge because of the length of the jib and I am thinking of a brake van or even a small coach maybe for the mess van……’s would be very gratefully taken….  If the jib is too long to fit on y...

Re: CRANE FOR FWLR

Looks good to me Rod. I'm starting to scratch build some wagons too. If anyone doesm't like it, tell them rule 1 applies.

You need a runner wagon now for the jib, and a mess van and you'll have a complete train.

Re: A Station For FWLR

I like the station Rod. Especially the lighting. Although I haven't started my line yet I am giving some thought to the stations, and the surrounding facilities. I will have two terminus stations and possibly a through station or halt, but space, (lack of) will meant they won't be grand affairs. I d...
