I'm not going to rattle on and on about the positives of this guide but :- + the layout of the contents + the quality of the photographs + the quality of drawings and sketches + the comprehensive choice of content + the feeling I have, that nothing has been included to fill a page or two + the fact ...
Hi,
I feel a bit silly as I can't work out how to actually vote. Clearly it is possible as others have voted but I can't find where. Can you help?
Andy McMahon
My 40 y/o Minicraft drill has bitten the dust this afternoon and I'm after suggestions to replace it? My first thought was Dremel but they don't appear to do any drills with a chuck, I can only find them with collets? The same applies to Proxxon. Plus I don't really want cordless one because you ca...
Rik, on your railway, sidings are for shunting on as you have the ultimate slow and detailed control of your locomotives, unlike many other 16millers who have other priorities. Look forward to seeing those sidings being used as you've designed them. Great stuff. I'm looking forward to racking your b...
I have found a box of the figures on e-bay..... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vintage-Original-TAMIYA-1-20-Racing-Pit-Team-collection-No-11-made-in-Japan-NOS/383391862265 Although I can't recall mentioning the use of these figures on my line (although I might have?) as I certainly had several. I can o...
Rik, I'm fairly sure that it was you who videoed your railway a few years ago and you mentioned adapting the 1:20 figures of a car racing pit stop crew. A long time after that I saw the kit in a model shop near Lake Garda while we were on holiday there. Most of them I managed to paint as RN matelots...
Have you activated the notification tab in your account setting Andy. Yes I've done that but I sometimes just want to recheck what I've already seen. Also, I don't think when people vote that this generates a notification. I may be wrong of course. My suggestion was to try and make it simpler for t...
I just have a nasty feeling that this lack of entries simply ties in with the "internet forums are a thing of the past" thread. Philipy will know that I have some difficulty with using the forum sometimes. Taking this into account, i also find it a little confusing to find the latest phot...
Here is one from last year of the whole garden. Sent this in case I'm not able to get a proper photo before the spring. I close my railway late Autumn and let the winter do its worst.
Best wishes for 2020 for all members of the forum and families.
I don't have to work through Christmas and New year anymore but used to do it frequently, though the one advantage was double bubble in the wallet.

About 50% of my trees are box but I've not bought any more since I heard of the deadly disease that is spreading up the UK. Page 19 of the i newspaper Tues 10th Sept had an article looking at the Ham Estate owned by the National Trust which has almost two thirds of a mile of Box. They've noticed th...
With the weather being so wet all day there was nothing I could do on the railway, however, whilst looking out of my Engine Shed window, I could see the effect the rain was having on the general appearance of the line - I thought a photo or two might help to illustrate what I mean..... I agree with...
I think your picture is missing Andy. Sounds good though! :) I clicked to edit the text on the first photo submitted for this competition but must have done something wrong. The addition was made to the original text on the photo but a copy of the text only ended up here. The addition was the bit r...
'Awaiting down trains viewed from Crowfoot Station platforms.' Here can be seen the exit from and the entrance to Crowfoot Station looking towards the level crossing near to Woodside Halt. The established trackwork is on brick and is yet to be ballasted. (2mm granite chippings and SBR) The right han...
For trees I use the ones everyone else uses with a lot of crossed fingers and see what happens. Can't stop the dog peeing on them, which is less of a problem once they are established. About 50% of my trees are box but I've not bought any more since I heard of the deadly disease that is spreading up...
BTW, when you get around to laying it, I find that gluing it down with SBR works well, although the initial colour is a bit scary and it may go white when it rains for a month or two. See various other threads on this subject. Thanks for that. I have argued before in favour of SBR as I have a balla...
